the location was superb. walked to the mall, to georgetown, to logan circle, even U street. the room was light, spacious, the bed very comfortable. the decor is somebody's bright idea of hip, but is really pretty awful. one of the two nights we spent there, it was quite noisy on the street. The bar restaurant, we felt, had a very unsophisticated vibe. anything better, is suspect, would have been much, much more expensive.

First stay at a Palomar, though I have had several pleasant Kimpton-chain stays. 4 nts purchased from Jetsetter, the spacious 2 queen-bedded room was perfect for a stay with my wife and 15yo daughter and a great value at ~220/nt. Plenty of space, updated rooms and public areas, starbucks 2 doors down the block and a choice of both inexpensive and high-end dining options within 5-8 blocks. Staff was very friendly, recommending a less expensive option to their $42 nightly parking rate when I mentioned that I was going to leave my car alone for my stay. Very helpful whenever asking a question, door was always opened for us with a warm greeting whenever we came or went. Metro 3 blocks away. Only 1 sink, but that was truly the only down-side to the room, which my daughter thought was cool, as opposed to a room with a bed. Job well-done, we'll return if in the area.

My husband I stayed there the first week of April for Cherry Blossom festival. The only big deal about this hotel is its location. Everything else is OK, nothing extraordinary considering the price.

Front desk and staff are polite. We had a King Deluxe room. The room was small but clean. Decoration was nice. Bed was good but the pillows were too soft for me. I contacted front desk and asked for firm pillow. They told me all they have is feather. So if you can't sleep on soft pillows, make sure you take your own. They had 5pm to 6pm wine happy hour, it was good. We ate at the restaurant, it was good (Everything is good, nothing is great).

We were flying out of Baltimore airport. We checked with the front desk for the best option to get to the airport. The first reaction was, it will be very expensive if you want to get a cab. Now, knowing how much you charge your guests to stay, that's an unusual answer.

They tried to help us and book a Super Shuttle for $56. But the time that the Shuttle wanted to pick us up didn't work. They said they have a limo service for $160. And finally they suggested that the doorman may know some cab driver who would take us there for a fix rate and that they would let us know. They also recommended that we look online for cab prices. They later called our room and let us know that a cab driver would take us to the airport for $120 which we thanked them and said we would get a cab as for what we have seen on the internet it would cost us between $70 and $80. So far, customer service, no problem.

They called us 15 min later to say AGAIN that cab will be VERY expensive and we should use one of the cabs with a fix rate and they have found us another one which will charge $100. To which we said, no and we would take a cab. We took a cab to the airport the next day and ended up paying $80 with tip. I certainly don't think the second call was customer service and I didn't like the pressure they try to put on us to use one of their "guys".

Again, location is great, everything else OK.

I always expect great things from a Kimpton Hotel, and am rarely disappointed. However, the Palomar Hotel went above and beyond my expectations and delivered a truly memorable experience. Our family of four had a great stay at this hotel, not only because the room was enormous and well appointed, or the fact that restaurant was really good, or that the location in Dupont Circle made it easy to get everywhere and still stay in a vibrant neighborhood. What made this hotel stand above the rest was its staff.

The concierge went out of his way to make sure our stay was extra special - he even helped me get Easter baskets filled for my kids since the bunny would not be coming to our home, and had them all ready when we arrived from the airport. The front desk staff welcomed us with toys for the kids and great information about the neighborhood restaurants, and the doormen were always there to open the door and grab us a cab or share quick directions. Really, they made everything so easy.

The Palomar is definitely our choice when we return, and we will. What a great city, and what a great experience for our whole family.

Great location, great staff, great accommodation - need I say more? Well, yes, our stay was so good you need to know why.

We had the misfortune to be in DC when Hurricane Sandy struck and we were confined to the hotel for two days! The staff were amazingly cheerful and helpful throughout. As the weather began to calm, we inquired with concierge whether or not a walk to Georgetown was feasible (there being little or no transport about) and could he give us directions - without hesitation, a chauffeur driven limousine was put at our disposal free of charge!

The hotel is in an excellent location just off Du Pont circle, close to the Metro station and within reasonable walking distance of the White House and other places of interest.

The lobby, bar and restaurant are busy areas. Bar and food prices are reasonable for a hotel of this quality.

Our room was spacious, extremely quiet with a large and comfortable bed. Ample wardrobe space. Comfortable easy chairs and table/desk and chairs. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed, well stocked with quality toiletries and warm, fluffy towels and dressing gowns. In addition to the TV set there was a dvd player and music centre. Free Wi Fi (for which we were grateful given the weather conditions) was available. There was a selection (free) of dvd's available at reception.

Free coffee/tea and snacks were available early morning in the lobby and there was also wine tasting and tibits each evening between 5 and 7.

Inevitably, flight disruption was a major concern for most guests and reception staff were bombarded with queries - which they dealt with courteously. They could not have been more helpful.

One final note of appreciation, when we requested a taxi to the airport for our return flight we were offered a chauffeured limousine at a reduced cost (it cost less than our taxi from the airport to the hotel on arrival).

Yes, Hurricane Sandy caused us major disruption to our stay in Washington but the staff of the Palomar could not have done more to make our stay as enjoyable as possible given the circumstances.

Of course, we will need to return to Washington as soon as possible to catch up on our 'lost' days. Where will stay, without doubt, the Hotel Palomar!

Hubby and I stayed here while I took a weekend course in DC. Modern amenities and comfortable furnishings along with the signature complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres around 5pm. Loved the room--CLEAN, nice, comfortable. Will definitely do this again.

Stayed for three nights, excellent service. Concigiere was really helpful, and gave us very good advice on restaurants. Will stay here when I return!
The bar is nice, and the massage service saved our trip....
