I've stayed here three times in the past four months. I'm a Kimpton fan who appreciates what the brand offers. This hotel is in a great location. Its a beautiful property, very comfortable and nicely decorated. There are a few drawbacks. Whenever I've had an issue with spotty valet service or occasional late night noise, the hotel has worked with me to resolve the issue. I can't ask for more than that. I plan to be back soon I recommend it if you are looking for a hip urban hotel with a great location in DC.

My partner and I (and our dog!) recently returned from a great trip to Washington, DC, and we’re so pleased that we chose to stay at the Palomar. We’re loyal Kimpton visitors, so we always expect a good hotel, but the staff at the Palomar exceeded our expectations this time.

I organized a long weekend for my partner to celebrate his birthday. Clayton Smith of the Palomar emailed me ahead of time to ask for any particular needs we had for the stay. While perhaps a strange request, I asked if we could have a picture of our cat (who doesn’t travel well) in the room as a surprise for my partner. Clayton was more than happy to help. It was an even greater surprise to realize upon entering our room that Clayton and his team upgraded us to the Presidential Suite for our stay, complete with champagne and chocolates ready for us in our room. Aside from being 1100+ square feet with two great bathrooms, the bed was so incredibly comfortable.

I always appreciate when the staff learns their guests’ names, and the entire front desk was quick to greet us and our dog by name when they saw us each time. Omer of the front desk and Delaney, a member of the concierge, were particularly accommodating in this regard. For instance, we were uncertain if we should keep a dinner reservation due to our dog, and Delaney offered to check on our dog to make sure that he was doing well while we were out. Even by the standards of dog-friendly hotels, this sort of assistance is above what is expected.

Like all Kimpton Hotels, the Palomar hosts their wine hour each evening in their lobby, which is furnished well with a fireplace; it was always a good way to start our nights. And each morning, as in all Kimptons, the hotel had coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available in the lobby. These small touches go a long way.

While one could make minor criticisms of the slow elevators or the possible touch-ups that some aspects of the hotel could use, the accommodating nature of the staff and the amenities of the Palomar overwhelmingly outweigh those details. Additionally, the hotel’s location in Dupont Circle served as a great home base for both day and night activities. While we do not frequent Washington, DC, we will undoubtedly book our next stay at the Palomar when we return to the city.

Room Tip: When the staff ask if you have any special requests, be honest if you have any. They're eager t...

My nephew was married in Washington D.C. and we stayed at the hotel where the reception was held. Right off Dupont Circle it is within 2-3 miles of anything you want to see and walking distance in warmer weather. There is no "view" on the 7th floor but older buildings in the area have a charm of their own. Also it is close to the Metro stop and convenience for going anywhere. The hotel is beautiful, has a nice living room area in lobby with fireplace and offers coffee in the morning, and wine in the evenings. Their restaurant has awsome food and is reasonably priced. My room was large, very comfortable and service was great. They are there for you anytime. Staff is gracious, friendly and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

The hotel is in a great location and the front desk staff was excellent. The lobby is well appointed and welcoming, the room was very clean and comfortable. We did not make use of any extras such as cocierge but if on par with the rest of the hotel they should be excellent. Kimpton hotels are dog friendly which has never been an issue for me or my family at any Kimpton hotel but none the less something to keep in mind.

Hotel Palomar was very comfortable and clean. Upon walking in you are greeted by pleasant doormen and welcoming front desk. The front desk told us of any amenities that were available such as the complimentary milk and cookies at night for kids. The lobby has fireplaces and comfortable seating. The rooms were decorated with splashes of color and animal print throws on the bed..very nice touches! Spacious rooms and fair size bathrooms. Only complaint was that there is no fan in the bathroom and within a minute of turning the shower on the room is all steamy and foggy and you can't use the mirrors. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast the two days and the breakfast was pretty good, however a little pricey as a lot of hotels. Overall, nice stay for our family of five.

Very mediocre concierge. Tourist trap restaurant recommendations. I had a list of restaurants to go to and asked the front desk to make a reservation on our behalf. Reservation got confirmed then went to restaurant and they had no record of it. Hotel OK. Great area.
