The Palomar was a fine hotel, the rooms are large and clean. The service was where I had issues. It was lackluster at best. We got a great deal through Travelocity but without a deal we wouldn't stay here again.

Arriving on Saturday afternoon to be welcomed by way of the manager's wine reception it was immediately clear that the staff at this hotel are accommodating and relaxed. This hotel does not aim for elaborate, formal service rather professional yet relaxed and it does this well.

We were at the hotel for five days, two of which we were stranded thanks to Hurricane Sandy. The staff made our stay easy and although there were points to the room which were not perfect this is not a high end hotel they do what they aim to do well.

The concierge team were amazing at pointing us in the right direction for restaurants and memorials/museums which were open and re-printing documentation and tour bookings we had to re-submit.

The Bar team were also great Joe was funny and chatty. He remembered your name and drink as well as happily chatting to all customers and making you feel truly at home.

The food here is odd... very expensive and although pleasant not consistent. It had a vague Mediterranean vein but basically not great. Unless you are stranded by a hurricane I would avoid eating here.

The location means you are very close to plenty of places to eat from Breakfast to Dinner. We tried many of the recommendations from the concierge list all were good.

Room Tip: Try to book a deluxe room if you can the extra money leads to a much bigger room, if you are troubl...

We arrived on a Saturday evening and we were pleasantly surprised to be told we had been upgraded to a deluxe Queen room. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed was the best bed I have slept in when staying in any hotel. It was so comfy !. The staff at the Hotel are the most polite, helpful and friendliest people I have ever come across in any of the hotels I have stayed in. Special mention must go to Karin ( Head of Housekeeping) who after discovering that both myself and my husband had tried to find some Twinkies for our son but with no luck rang around places and located some ! She then very kindly sent a member of staff to purchase them for us.So thank you to Omar who very kindly went to buy them for us.All this took place whilst we were waiting for our taxi to take us to the airport for our return journey home. Another mention must got to Nabil who was so friendly to us when we were going back and to , to the hotel, he always had a smile and spoke to us.I can not reccomend this Hotel enough. The whole team made our stay very special. Our stay coincided with Hurricane Sandy and the staff again kept us informed with all the information we needed. The location is great, just down from Du Pont Circle. Both my husband and I walked everywhere, from the White House to Arlington and then over to Pentagon Mall !! a very long walk but we saw so much of DC this way.If we ever visit washington again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Hotel Palomar, or any of the other hotels in this company. Thank you once again for a memorable trip to washington DC.

Room Tip: I would ask for corner room again as these are bigger. Also I would ask not to have a room by the li...

I was at the Palomar for four nights...it was just ok...people were nice, location was right off DuPont Circle. I thought the Klimpton chain was creating an upscale brand...they missed the boat on several important points. The linens were substandard at best. I don't know what the thread count was...ummm...maybe 100? The bath was furnished with a minimum of ok towels, but the soaps, shampoos etc would be found at a Holiday Inn Express. The WIFI is $11.99, the parking about $42.00 a day plus tips. Come on boys! The room service menu consists of some Italian foods, gathered in the woods? Thank God they had a burger at the end of a poorly thought out menu. I'm not interested in the chef's pickled pumpkin...or a salad with 1/2 of a candied pecan.

Room Tip: Well, Id look down the street for a room if I were you...or if you must, a high floor here.

3 nights in Palomar last weekend with family (couple and two sons - 12 and 16). Excellent location right on Dupont Circle, within easy walking distance of Georgetown and National Mall. Friendly, efficient service and comfortable, spacious room. Pool was closed due to end of season. Buffet breakfast was fine although "continental" breakfast service was in a second rate part of the restaurant. Would stay here again if in DC

What a great hotel. Friendly Friendly Friendly staff, what a pleasure to stay in a hotel where guests actually welcomed! My room was quiet, large and well equipped. Only downside was the windows dont open however the air con was unobtrusive. They put on free wine each evening and it was standing room only as guests mingled around the attractive lobby. Room service food menu was OK - a few healthy options to choose from. No tea/ coffee making facility in room however they were happy to bring one on request. Location is terrific as is close to dupont circle and plenty of restaurant options. Metro is also close by. Would certainly return and other guests I spoke to said the same. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms ar rear probably quieter but some may be dark and with little aspect - just the rear of other...

Stayed in a nice deluxe suite - perfect for our family. The staff was able to accommodate an early check in, and unfortunately an early departure thanks to Frankenstorm Sandy. The Manager on Duty, Jerry, was more interested in our safety and comfort than losing income by an early departure. So much to do in the area - metro close and taxi fare very reasonable to any of our destinations. Will definitely stay there again. Thanks Jerry and Staff!!
