“Was expecting more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2010

I picked this hotel based on the reviews I read on Trip Advisor, the majority of which were positive. My husband and I and our two young daughters spent part of our vacation at this hotel in August. We had originally booked for an entire week's stay but after 2 days we were ready to leave. I was expecting this hotel to be much nicer than it was. My girls were very excited when they saw the lobby. It looks very impressive. But when they got to the room, the excitement kind of faded. The room definitely left something to be desired. It was very large but half of the room was empty. The bathroom was very small, and looked like a bathroom in someone's house, certainly not a fancy hotel and it was not very clean. The floor and sink were dirty. The beds looked nice and clean but I don't know. I didn't think anything of it when we were there but the girls and I ended up getting all bitten up both nights. I had to buy some itch relief cream because we were really miserable with the bites we got the first day there. Figured they were misquito bites. But now that we've been home a few weeks, have noticed that we keep getting the same kind of bites. They just never stopped. I am praying (and losing sleep over it) that we didn't bring any pests home with us. I've been checking the traveler reviews here and don't see anyone else saying this. I've checked the bed bug registry and there haven't been any reports of bed bugs at this hotel since last year. I'm crossing my fingers.

The hotel is as beautiful in real life as in the pictures. The room was perfect and very spacious (1 king room). The bathroom was huge and very clean. As a member of their free rewards program, I got free coffee and juice delivered every morning along with discounted breakfast options. The meeting spaces were comfortable.

When the work day ended, there was plenty of great food in warm atmospheres within walking distance. And, the metro is a 3 minute walk from the front door (as is a drugstore for anything you forgot to bring). All of the DC sights were only a few minutes ride from there.

Really enjoyed my stay here.

We booked this being out first trip to DC, check in was hideous, no welcom or hello and the chap checking us in refusing to take a chek as payment for incidentals as 'it was easier for him to use plastic' QUOTE, He then demanded we resign one check as he stated he had not seen us sign it, at this point, my partner finally cracked and stated ' could you please give us a break all we want to do is check in', nothing more was said, we recived a deep apology from the reception lead and vouchers for drinks at the lounge bar in the hotel. Aside from housekeeping and lovely grounds this hotel really does have a chip on its shoulder, its a sad old lady in need of a staff renovation and overhaul. We did goto the bar one night during one of the many corporate events that was on at the hotel and were turned away with the barman shking his head and giving us the voucher back stating ' no im not taking it' we went back to reception and again got an apology and an offer of another drink, by which time we told them to leave it and went out.
The hotels grounds and rooms are spotless, however imho it is for all intent and purposes a corporate hosting hotel with apparently little interest (well none that was shown to us) in the holidaying tourist, a fact reiterated by some of the UK air crew we met up with later who had experienced similair. Would we go back to DC? yes its a wonderfull city, would we stay at the Omni? No, never again it dampened our holiday start.....

My partner and I stayed at the Omni Shoreham over Labor Day weekend 2010 for a "staycation," staying close to home, and seeing all the tourist sites we've never visited before. I found an excellent deal online, and booked a room. There were some complications with the initial reservation, but they were eventually sorted out completely by the front desk staff when we arrived. Our room had a king-sized bed, and a good-sized living room, with a sofa, table and chairs, desk, and dresser with TV. We were happy to find two cold bottles of water in the fridge. I joined the Omni "Select Guest" program before making the reservation, and this was a good idea; it brought with it free WiFi in our room (usually $9.99/day), and two free beverages per person in the mornings delivered to the room. Two different concierges were helpful on two different days, helping us print out tickets for the Old Town Trolley tour, and recommending local restaurants. We enjoyed the pool and the poolside service, and found the gym to have everything we needed and wanted, including fresh ice water, towels, and high-quality machines, and additional workout supplies. Overall, our stay was excellent, and we were very pleased with the staff's positive attitude and attentive service.

Location OK. Very close to Metro and some nice restaurants in the area.

Room was comfortable. Only tried pool bar and food, though hotel bar VV expensive - nearly $8 for a beer. Handy to have a coffee shop in lobby.
Sign up for Omni as it gives you free WiFi and drinks delivered to your room each morning.

This was our first visit to DC and we wanted a hotel out of the city centre with a pool we could relax by at the end of of a busy sightseeing day. We stayed 5 nights and the Omni Shoreham did NOT disappoint and met all our expectations. The hotel was beautiful, clean, the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the bedroom was a good size although the bathroom was a little on the small size, it had a window with a view of the Washington Monument. What more could you ask! The hotel is in a good location with plenty of restaurants nearby or a 10 minute walk to Adams Morgan which had a good selection of eating establishments used mainly by locals. The hotel is close to the very efficient metro which serves the city and also the Circulator bus ($1 per ride). It was useful to have a good sized fridge in the room and the complimentary early morning drinks were a nice touch. The only complaint we had was being woken at 5.30am on the first morning by the guest in the room next door talking on her phone on and off for more than 2 hours. Also we were woken by noisy guests returning to their room across from ours during the middle of the second night. Someone called Security who told them to keep the noise down. Apart from other people being inconsiderate, we would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying there again. Washington DC is a fantastic place to visit, especially as all the museums are free to enter. However, we found the food prices in the museum cafes were on the high side.

I stayed here with a good friend for a conference from our church. Over 1,000 other women were present for this four day event. We had a wonderful time, and the hotel staff was exceptional. I am not sure how much it would have cost if I wasn't part of a very large group, but the room was huge, the food very good, the employees wonderful, and the location was terrific. Having Natalie Grant sing on our last night there was the icing on the cake. A wonderful time was had by all of the women that I talked to. I'll just have to wait three years for the next Triennial. It won't be in Washington, D.C., but should be terrific. If you have a chance to stay at the Omni Shoreham, do so!
