This hotel is just blocks from the Washington Mall. It is also directly above the largest metro station in DC. It has access to the metro from the lobby but you really need to pay attention when you get off the metro - it's very difficult to find your way back to the lobby - the hotel is not marked on any of the metro platforms. Room was nice - comfortable bed. I like being able to adjust the temperature in the room myself so that was great. Ate dinner in the sports bar - it was adequate. My biggest pet peeve? When a place has a sign that says Starbucks in the lobby, and all the cups and napkins say Starbucks, that should mean it's a Starbucks. But apparently it's become the in thing to serve the coffee but NOT be a real Starbucks because in this hotel (and in several others I've visited) they will NOT accept your Starbucks gift card. Was told you could only use it at a real Starbucks. Say what???
Bell and desk employees were very friendly - except for the young lady who was truly offended when I asked if it was a safe neighborhood to run early in the morning. Her huffy response was "we're no different than any other big city - just pay attention to what's around you". Ran early in the morning with no problem. All in all, a nice stay. Perfect location, nice room, I'd definitely come back.
