“Excellent location and excellent staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

While the rooms may have been a bit dated, they were clean and spacious! The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect! Walking distance to the Mall and the Smithsonian Museums on the Mall. Metro in the basement for other destinations. We were literally only 2 - 3 Metro stops from wherever we wanted to go. Andre at the front desk is awesome! He gave us great suggestions for dinner and perfect directions on how to get there!

The metro station is downstairs so super convenient to mass transit. The mall with all the Smithsonians is walkably close. Lobby is great and the bar is good. The rooms are average. It wasn't the smallest tv in a room I've ever seen but... bath a bit on the old side as was the room. But it was a large room and the location really can't be beat.

We visited Washington DC and booked through Travelocity. Received a good price including flight. I stayed in this same hotel 30 years ago with my own family as a kid so I remembered the view from the rooms is spectacular. We were on a museum mission weekend with our son. We flew from BWI airport, took the MARC in to Union Station and in just a few minutes we arrived to the L'Enfant plaza stop. The hotel was just a small walk away. There is a food court right below with many choices. We did not eat at the hotel eatery. We found the hotel staff very pleasant and helpful, however the room was a bit dated, the carpet somewhat stained, and the room a bit cold no matter what we did to change the temperature. We called the front desk and a maintenance worker checked the vents and said the temperature was 74, which we could never live with. Our home is always set at 66 in the winter! I was relieved to find the beds and linen very clean, and the shower was clean also. As another stated the shower curtain was stained and the tile floor scratched pretty heavily. These are things I can and did deal with. If the beds are clean, and we have slippers to walk on the floor with I can handle it. Overall our price for the hotel and location was very nice on the wallet. There is a fridge and coffee maker in the room. The pool is outside so in winter don't bring a swimsuit. Our room was on the 15th floor.

A picture says a thousand words and it is the truth. It is as the latest reviewer said who visited in early February and as late as last April. The furnature is old maybe mid 70s. The lobby is the best feature of the hotel. The first room we were given had a badly patched ceiling on the 15th floor (the 15th is the highest floor). The second room that we were given was an "up grade" according to the front desk. The room was slightly bigger and it did have a balcony. Like the first room the furnature was old, the chairs were clearly worn by the torn arm rests, the beds were soft but not even close to new, the cloth covered bench was stained as well as the old carpet. The bathroom was average but the shower barley had presure and it also showed that it was poorly caulked. There was no ventilation in the bathroom. The rooms were drafty and if you happend to score and "up grade" make sure it is neither neither has a view of the pool or the train tracks do look to sleep late. The L'Enfant Plaza Hotel should shut down for a full renovation rather than creating a updated lobby as they are doing now. I would not reconmmend this hotel. Oh, and if you happen to stay at this hotel on a weekend or holiday the "shops and resteraunts" are not open. The only store open is the CVS but there are CVS' everywhere in DC so I would skip this one. The best thing that L'Enfant has is the elevator that takes you down to the Shop area that leads to the Metro. Take the green or yellow train one stop to the Naval Archives stop and walk across the area to "Paul" if you want a true French experience. The Omlets and fresh baked goods are wonderful. Don't eat at the American Grill in the hotel for breakfast unless you just like bad food with freindly service not even if they offer it for free. They serve an awful buffet. Is an Omlet station to much to ask for with fresh cooked meats and waffle station. After you spend nearly $170.00 (valet Parking included) is a good place to eat to much to ask for. The shining start are most of the staff that work at L'enfant they were always polite to friendly. #1525

It's in a location, close to many of the Smithsonian museums. Metro below hotel as is small shopping area. The room was nice, however, a little unclean, especially the bathroom shower curtain, it was filthy, no idea what was on it, also hair in the bathroom. Had a small gym which was good. Wi fi was expensive, but there was computers you could use in the business centre which were free.
