For proximity to the Washington Mall, you probably cannot do much better. And, to stay at the flagship JW probably has some cache. The quality is in keeping with brand and the complex has some grandeur. However, there are much more "grand" JWs in the world and much better values in DC. I paid $111 per night via Priceline so I got an extraordinary value. At normal rates of 300-600USD, I'd rather go to a Kimpton and/or stay in a neighborhood with more reasonable prices for food, drinks, etc. everything is very expensive, but it was nice to walk past the White House a few times and see the Washington monument from my window.

With only one night in Washington, we chose to stay here due to its proximity to all the historical sights in the area. We were a 10-minute walk from the White House, the Smithsonian and the Washington Monument. This is a great base to enjoy the sights of DC from.

The hotel was very elegant, if a little bit corporate and uninspiring.

Overall, a great place to stay.

The hotel lobby was very nice, and we loved the iced fruity water offered there, although this service is mostly complimentary now. The location is the best about the hotel, it's right next to the national mall, all the museums are in walking distance. Also the stuffs are very friendly, they offer very nice services.

You will be at a perfect location for exploring the City...all the staff are friendly and attentive. The floors are gigantic so some rooms come with some built-in exercise to walk to the room. The rooms are VERY quiet for a downtown location...unless you can get a group or discount rate the cost is steep. We enjoyed room service and the meal at the Avenue Grill

Well you can't really beat the location; you may come close or tie, but this is about as good as it gets for being in the center of it all. That was our #1 priority and thankfully, we nailed it.

As for the hotel overall, it was pretty good. I've traveled the world many times over, so this didn't leave me with a breathtaking impression, but it was definitely above average and had all of the amenities that one would come to expect in a full-service hotel.

Rooms: Small. We got the weekend rate, and our friends got the regular rate. Their room was about 50% bigger; ours was pretty small. Can't sit on the toilet and close the door - that kind of small. But the beds were nice and there was a mini-bar, coffee maker, etc...

We would stay here again, if nothing else for the location. We walked everywhere and we are from Los Angeles where we drive to our mailbox.

I guess the one thing it lacked was character. It was pretty commercial feeling, which is okay, but not historic like some of the other classics in D.C. Overall, a nice place for a city visit.

Stayed there for a convention and the rooms were some of the smallest rooms I have ever seen! There was no fan or ventilation in the bathroom and the thermostat was not effective. Often the Concierge was understaffed and the front desk help was not the friendliest. The door staff, greeters, gift shop, and valet folks were very nice though. Overall however, the rooms were way overpriced for the amount of room you get. I think the rooms at Days Inn and Super 8's are bigger!

Thank you for your feedback. Although we will be careful to follow up on your concerns with the front desk, I was very appreciative for your recognition of the staff. While consistent with similar hotels in the downtown market, I understand the room size may be smaller than other hotels you have seen.

Thank you again for your candor.

I stayed here for the weekend to run a half-marathon. As far as JW goes, it's a nice hotel and is on par with my expectations. The lounge serves good breakfast. What annoys me about Marriott and most North American big chain hotels is that most of them close the lounge on the weekends, which in my opinion is a big disappointment.

I got a corner room, but the hotel is overall nice and quiet. The location is great because it is close to the subway system, and there is no shortage of food around the area. It is also walking distance to the verizon stadium, and that makes it convenient if you manage to combine the weekend with a hockey game like I did.

Service is average, good but no one went above and beyond. So far I have not gone to another hotel in Washington but may start venturing.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with corner rooms.
