“This is a JW Marriott??”
Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

I visited D.C for business and chose to stay at the JW Marriott on Pennsylvania Ave between 13th & 14th. I thought it was a great location. That's about all it has.
The room was plausible. A bit small but clean. The hotel restaurant on the lower level needs help. Service was not up to par and neither was the food. The hotel bar is ok, but extremely over priced.

Not much more to say.

We have used the JW Marriott for our galas several times in the past and it was usually a "good" experience. Just want you all to know that the dinner for 500 last night, from salad to lamb chops to dessert, was "very good," including the service - efficient, pleasant, well-staffed.

One of the real changes in the DC food scene this past decade has been the competitiveness of hotel restaurants...they finally get it that if they provide full service, they will keep the $$ in the hotel. Way to go JW!!

The location can't be beat. You are two blocks from the White House and the National Mall. There are also numerous restaurant and shopping options in very close proximity. The front end staff is very good... helpful, good attitude and lots of smiles. Housekeeping was good but not great. The rooms themselves were a bit of a disappointment. The bathrooms were very small (barely room to turn around in) and the walls/carpets seemed a bit tired. The hotel says they had a "major renovation" a couple of years ago but I think that they just changed the carpet/wallpaper and some furniture. Once again the staff did a good job but I'm not sure if the rooms themselves justify the $450/night rate. I guess you are paying for the location.

The people at the hotel are great. The pool is swell. The rooms are really inconsistent. The location is perfect. The food in the restaurants is very good and the wait staff are great. There is a major problem with the air conditioning I stay there about once a month and always return with a major head cold. I have told the hotel and several members of our group have ceased to stay there. It is a shame because it is a lovely facility. The hotel does not have windows that open so there is very little you can do to fix the problem. They really need to work on this. For a flagship property, this should not happen.

Room Tip: Room on the top floors with a view of the monuments are the best. The terrace rooms are the best be...

From the moment we walked in I knew we had made the right decision. We were greeted at check in by Daniel McCain who was super nice and very helpful with local suggestions. Saw him 3 days later and he greeted me by name. Our room had access to a patio area with great views of the capitol and a glimpse of the White House. The rroms were a little small, but plenty of room for 2. We had access to the concierge lounge which offered an excellent breakfast and a light fare in the evenings. Perfect location for tourist, accessible to ever place we were wanting to see.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Pennsylvania Ave.

I enjoyed my stay at the JW Marriott Washington DC. I was attending a conference so the hotel was full of a mix of conference goers and families on spring break. The location is excellent, close to DCA, and easy to get to everything that you might want to see if you're only in DC for a short amount of time.

The banquet food was not the best but that could be due to the choices made by the organizers. I enjoyed the cocktail hour appetizers more than the actual meal. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very good and the service was great.

Overall, I was impressed with every staff member I encountered. They were friendly and helpful and genuinely seemed to care that guests were taken care of as needed.

Room Tip: I did not have a room with a view due to the conference pricing. You might ask if you can have a roo...

This hotel has staff who show that guests are to be welcomed, from reception to maid staff they were all courteous. The room we requested was available but facing the busy Pennsylvania Ave, I requested a quieter part of the hotel and got the courtyard side. The room was smaller but we had a comfortable quiet room. The hotel is well situated for everything Washington has to offer visitors. The only thing I could really find not up to par are the pillows, they need to be replaced.
