“Wonderful stay, prime location!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

I booked a stay using Marriott Rewards points for the evening of July 4th. I was hoping to land a room looking out over the Mall and Washington Monument to watch the fireworks display. Despite being flooded with people checking in, the superb front desk staff quickly assisted those ahead of us and provided us a choice room overlooking the Monument. Breakfast in the concierge lounge the following morning was good, though a bit crowded with 4th of July revelers like myself. The location and quality of service of this hotel is also hard to beat. I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the Washington Monument.

JUst stayed at the Marriott. Left my purse in the taxi on arrival from airport. The staff at the front immediatel;y went into action. Checking their surveilance cameras & calling taxis to get it back. Meanwhile the lovely taxi driver found it and was on his return to the hotel!! So nice! The conceire was great at finding us great restaurants within waliking distance. Beds incredibly comfortable. Liquor store immediately to your right & CVS 2 blocks up with inexpensive juice, snack etc. TJMaxx 2 blocks away. All monuments & museums within easy walking distance.Perfect place!

Room Tip: just check your bill for minibar charges. Staff great at taking them off no problem

I stayed at the JW on a recent business trip. A couple of blocks from the White House. Walking distance to the Metro. Even had a view of the Washington Monument from my room window. Would definitely stay again. In fact, I've already made a reservation there for my next trip.

This is only 5 mins walk from the white house and very near the mall. From what i could tell all the sights within Washington are fairly compact so this was a great base. Its a very pleasant stroll along the Mall where all the key sights are. The hotel is very large and well equipped.

My only quibble was this was a pricey place yet didn't have free wifi in the rooms. It was free down in the lobby but not that useful if you quickly wanted to check out where good restaurants were.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Excellent spot to explore the city from.
Starters there is a Starbucks in the lobby so is easy to start the day nicely!
We used the trolley bus to get about. The stop is just across the road. It was so easy to get around. The White House is just a block away and then you can walk to the Washington monument and Abraham Lincoln memorial such a gorgeous walk to do!
Used the hotel gym which was very very good. Lots of equipment and good weights. The pool and spa were great too.
Room service was quick and tasty. The restaurants on the hotel were good too. Very happy!

I have stayed at this JW Marriott a few times over the past 10 years and every time I am impressed with the level of service. My last visit was for 5 days to tour the capital during the inauguration and we were impressed with how helpful the hotel was with making plans. The roads were closed down around the hotel and we felt in the loop about how to travel around the area. The turn down service included inauguration treats--a very nice touch. We are Marriott Gold Level members, so we had access to the concierge lounge which was great for unwinding at the end of the day. I would highly recommend staying here to have the best stay in the capital area.

Room Tip: Rooms above the 8th floor have the best views. Ask to look over Pennsylvania Avenue if possible.

My wife and I stayed here for a quick one night stay in DC. From the valet to the front desk, everyone was smiling and pleasant and offered a quick “Good Morning!” to help us feel right at home. The hotel was beautiful inside and very spacious. Lots of sitting options and a nice bar area as well. The room was very comfortable and one of the quietest rooms we have ever stayed in. Our view from the 14th floor was outstanding as we could see the top of the Capitol, and monuments such as the Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln. If you are a tourist, this puts you right in the middle of all the action as far as seeing the White House and being close to the National Mall. We never stepped on the metro and walked the 7 blocks to Chinatown to watch the Wizards play. Felt very safe the entire time. Room service that evening was very prompt with my milk and cookies and it did not disappoint. Eating breakfast in the morning there was amazing. We had vouchers for the buffet and it was out of this world. They make custom omlets for you and have a ton of options. You can also order a la carte.
