“Beautiful Fall Weekend in DC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

My family recently stayed at the JW the weekend of Sept 28th through Oct 1,2012. My husband was getting inducted into the National Academies of Science,so it was very special for all of us. The hotel is located in a very convenient area to the Mall and various restaurants and tourist stops. We had dinner the first night after arriving late around 9pm downstairs and it was excellent. I had Crabcakes and my son had steak. I highly recommend it especially if you are too tired to wander out of the hotel one night. Yes,the rooms are on the small side. But we got lucky and had a beautiful view of the Washington Monument. Yes,the elevators are different, but they are easy to use once you realize what to do. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a view!

The lobby is beautiful and makes you feel special for staying at the hotel. The staff was nice. I paid for an upgrade (room with a view) - it was nice, but I would have appreciated being warned that there would be a festival outside my room all day on Sunday, as I would not have paid extra for the noise! The room was otherwise great and the amenities were lux. My niece and I had a great time completing the scavenger hunt during her introductory trip to DC.

We stayed at The JW DC for one night while I was attending a college reunion held there. Its location is prime, in the heart of the nation's capital a whisker away from the Washington Monument, Smithsonian institution (10 minute walk) and all its fascinating museums, and the White House, among a host of other landmarks. The ample lobby that greets you is very spacious, with unlimited cozy seating...we even held one of our committee meetings (10 people) in the lobby area. Elevators are innovative: you select your floor number on a dial-pad and wham..you are assigned to an elevator that goes straight to that floor! Rooms are very spacious with an ultra-modern decor, All amenities are of prime quality. Beds are ultra-comfy, and the bathroom is top-notch. The 2nd level bar area has wonderful cozy seating, with ample bites available to compliment fine of wines and other accompaniments. We did not partake of the restaurant, which is adjacent to the bar, since catering was provided as part of our gathering. The meeting rooms were very spacious, though somewhat deficient in adequate temperature control (a little too cold...but hey, this is often the norm in most hotel meeting rooms these days...take a sweater or light jacket and you'll be OK). Front desk staff, concierge, and bell staff were all very polite and helpful. Now the one downside of this otherwise top-notch hotel is the waiting time for your car if you valet park...we were told 20-25 minutes during busy times, but had to wait for at least 35 minutes, so be sure to call for your car well ahead of time! All said, it was an ultra-pleasant and cozy experience staying at the JW DC and I would unreservedly recommend it for those that can afford it.

Room Tip: You can self park for $14.00 a day in the hotel's underground parking lot, to avoid the daily $4...

I stayed there 4 days and didn't need to go elsewhere for breakfast. Hotel staff are very polite and helpful. The front desk people remembered our names and the concierge lady gave us fabulous tips on great places to have dinner.

In August of 2012 , I was lucky enough to have stayed in the JW Marriott in WA DC! The location was terrific and we literally just had to go out of our room and walk 4 city blocks to the White House and a fantastic viewing of the Washington monument. My sister had chosen the location and it was perfect!
I was impressed not only by the service staff, but also the onsight Starbucks, and restaurant/bar that had impressive food and Happy Hour. Also within 2 blocks we had our choice of other eating options and we were literally right on the Smithsonian Mall and could walk to the museums and the National Mall to complete our list of historical sights we wanted to see!
Washington DC is an amazing destination whether you are a US Citizen or from another country. Everything is clean and well run, and mostly FREE....
A Must do trip for any family with children over the age of 10.....

Room Tip: We had requested a view room when booked, but didn't receive one when we arrived as promised, so...

The Council of Better Business Bureaus just had it's annual assembly at the Marriott. The facilities were outstanidng, the service was first class and the food was very good. A well equipped workout center was great to have. My room was spacious with comfortable chairs and the beds were comfortable. A really first-class place.

I have stayed here on several occasions and found this hotel to be one of the best in DC. Great for business and family trips. This past stay was for a conference and they do an outstanding job. Hotel Service is a Marriott standard to be duplicated elsewhere - everything from the greeting at the door, to the check in process, to the maid service was handled by polite professional individuals who deserve recognition. Definitely stop in at 1331, the on location bar and ask for Peter - best bartender in DC!

Room Tip: Avoid the Concierge Level during the summer months - too many families filled the room.
