Was here on business trip for 3 nights. Renovations did not affect stay. The elevator system is not efficient. Room nice, bed comfy. Over all 3 star property. A lot of good restaurants with in walking distance.

I am sure that the JW Marriot is going to be a very nice hotel but our stay in September of 2007 was not very nice and expensive. They are under major rennovation in the lobby and surrounding areas. The room was nice but the rest of the hotel is disorganized and confusing. I would make sure that all rennovation is finished unless you can get a really good deal. We were in Washington DC for 6 days. We stayed at the Marriot Mayflower for 3 nights which is spectacular and 3 nights at this hotel. I wish that we had stayed at the Mayflower the entire time. The up side of this hotel is that the rooms are nice and the location is very good. The down side is the rennovation.

My husband and I took the Chinatown bus from NYC to Washington DC to see all the sites. The Metro is not too far from the JW Marriott. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and the baggage attendant took our luggage up to our room. The staff was friendly and helpful (i.e., suggesting places to eat or helping us with directions). The facility was under construction (remodeling), but it was not distracting or intrusive. Our room was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and had a great view of the Washington Monument! I would recommend asking for a room with a view...you will not regret it! One thing that was lacking was a bathroom fan/vent. It made the room very humid after taking a shower. We were able to walk to wherever we wanted or took the Metro with ease. The hotel is in a great location to all the various sites (we walked everywhere and saw everything)! Since this is a higher end hotel, there was an internet charge of approximately $9.99/24 hours. Also, since we did not have a car we didn't worry about a parking charge, but I think it's pretty pricey. We did not eat at the restaurants on site, but did have drinks to end the night at the lounge. It was very comfortable and relaxing. The pool/jacuzzi area was convenient and fun to ease our muscles from walking so much during the day. I would definitely stay at this hotel again! It made our trip to Washington DC fun, relaxing, and comfortable.

This hotel was chosen for us for a business trip. We extended our stay at this hotel for the duration of our trip (vacation).

I was concerned about the horrible elevator time issues I read about. Just so you know this is no longer an issue. They have a brand new state-of-the-art system which works great! It's very efficient!

The rooms appear to be very recently renovated. Our room was in near perfect condition. The bathroom was small, but it wasn't a big issue for us. The bed with fluffy comfortor and pillows was wonderful.

We didn't have a room with a great view (as some mentioned), but the extra money wasn't worth it to us. All we had to do was walk outside the door and we were right in the middle of almost everything we wanted to see. You're only two blocks from the White House!

We really enjoyed the food in the hotel restaurant. They have a great breakfast buffet and the food they served at our business meetings was also very good.

The lobby is under construction, but it wasn't a problem.

I'm pretty particular about hotels (especially the cleanliness). We would definitely stay here again. We had a great time!

Stayed here from 8-13 thru the 15th. i was on a business trip. The hotel is a good location if you want places to eat or sightsee. The hotel is under construction so the lobby looks okay. The room was very nice and comfy. The bed was great and had all the nice amenties in the bathroom, etc. The only thing I did not like was that they charge you for the use of wifi and the business center is not complimentary. I've stayed at cheaper hotels that offer you all that and then some. I think Marriott makes a lot of money as it is and they can spring to let you use the business center while I'm on business on the house. But, that is my opinion. They had a happy hour type of service in a suite, that I found accidently since the front desk people never advised me on it. It was for anyone staying at the hotel, complimentary cheese, crackers, water, fruit, etc. But, overall it was a good stay.

Following the advice from a poster here on TA we booked 2 nights at this property and can say that it is probably the best advice that we have received from TA to date!

You can walk to all the DC sites - and the jump off/on bus service stops outside the door. The staff are friendly (one of the front office team rummaged behind the counter and put hats on my kids - did not get his name!) - and the Concierge not only gave information, she made a few useful suggestions - which helped us with our limited time.

Our bedroom had a courtyard view - but our friends had a terrific view of Washington monument - so would recommend a pref for view on booking!

The hotel is being renovated at the moment, so the lobby area is wip - but this did not affect our trip in any way.

My husband, two children (ages 4 & 6) and I stayed two nights at the JW Marriott. The location was perfect! We could walk to the White House, Ford's Theater, the Mall and Capitol Hill right from the hotel. It was wonderful to be able to get up in the morning and walk everywhere we wanted to go.

The hotel employees were great with our kids. They even gave them each a different book about a different president. The kids loved the books and are still enjoying them.

The hotel is under some construction (in the lobby), but we did not experience any inconvience as a result.
