I have stayed here before and nothing beats this location. Spectacular view of the Capital from the front door, steps from the National Mall and Union Station. Nice room , no refrigerator, plenty of plugs and light, quiet. Bathroom has a pedestal sink and the thin glass shelf does not provide a lot of space for cosmetics and products. Nice bar. Restaurant is OK, quick service. Breakfast buffet is fantastic with made to order omelets that are prepared quickly. Good stay

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not look directly into office building next door and I wish I had been offe...

On September 30, I travelled to Washington, DC with 35 others to attend meetings we had with various House of Representatives staff and Senators on October 1st. The hotel was in a great location. I was able to walk to the National Mall and check out many of the sights in our Nation's Capitol. It was also a short walk to Capital Hill. The hotel is a short walk from Union Station, so you can get to the hotel very easily from the airport via the Metro. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. My guest room was clean and well appointed. I did find it a bit noisy, as my hotel was on the front site of the hotel. There is a very small Fire Station right across the street, so from time to time at night, you would hear the sirens, but not a deal breaker. These firefighters are just doing their jobs! Since there was a group of us, we were told we got a "discounted" price - but I didn't consider $295 + tax a deal. Guess it's all about location, location, location.

First time staying an overnight, although I have been at the hotel for meetings in the past. First class accommodation at a reasonable rate. Friendly, fast check-in; excellent foot - hot and large portion on the Salmon at the Grill restaurant; and a comfortable room with full amenities inclusing large screen TV. Worth a shot if you are staying in the area

Room Tip: The Regency level is worth the extra cost

I stayed for 4 nights at the Hyatt, located within a short walk of Capitol Hill and the National Mall. The hotel is bright, clean, and updated. Service is impeccable. The beds are extremely comfortable and the linens are high quality. The West Wing Cafe is across the street for a quick and reasonably priced sandwich, cup of soup, or other on-the-go foods.

The only drawback to the hotel was the frigid temperature in the meeting rooms. If you are going for business, do take a winter coat or blanket for your meetings. It was so cold that many of us were shivering and our speakers commented on how cold it was inside. (The outside temperature was quite reasonable).

Room Tip: I was on the 7th floor and didn't hear anyone or anything.

I spent a day in D.C. in between my trains.
PROS: Great location, just down the road from the train station and other important spots. Staff is courteous, room is clean.
CONS: Price is very high. I paid somewhere in the area of $100+ for a single night. Food is good, but again very steep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of downtown.

This is an OK hotel. The best part is the location. The rooms are modest. You would expect a double room with two queen beds to have double sinks. Nope. This is a big hotel at big city prices. No more, no less. A tipfor the wise traveler. Do not accept a room on the 10th floor. Yes, that sounds like it is prestigious, but there is a severe drawback. Half of the 11th floor is meeting rooms and they do room set-up all night long with rolling carts that make gawd awful noises into the rooms below (10th floor).

Room Tip: Don't stay on the 10th floor.

The best feature of this hotel is its location--just a few blocks from Union Station and from the Capitol Building. It's easy to walk to the Mall, or to hop on the Metro for wider travel. The hotel has all the features you expect of a Hyatt, the furnishings are pleasant, the rooms clean, the beds comfortable. There is a restaurant, bar and fitness room. It's very easy to catch a cab from here. Our view was not great, we were in a wing that looked out on two other wings of the hotel, so that all we could see were other rooms in the same hotel. Also, the prices for internet access are exorbitant. The staff was pleasant and competent and we did not have to wait to see them. They made a mistake on my checkout bill, but they quickly adjusted it once I pointed it out. Overall a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the center wing of the hotel for a better view.
