This property is in a great location, just steps from the giant metro center subway line with rapid access all over the city. The hotel staff was superb with particular pains being taken by the chef and wait staff to supply my wife with a gluten and dairy free diet. The bellman, Manuel made sure my tux was sent for pressing and that it was delivered back to my room in time for a function. All in all, the hotel is in good shape, but is a bit cramped and starting to be a tiny bit dated. The rooms are small and sparsely furnished, notably with a lack of dvd/cd player or a way to get a bit more entertainment.

Room Tip: select upper floors and king beds!

Stayed here in August 2012 w/my pre-teen son (can't believe I forgot to submit my review earlier!) The hotel is great, within walking distance to most attractions w/DC Metro access next door (easiest and nicest subway I have ever used) Yummy food trucks set up outside for various tastes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean, hotel was quiet. My son loved the on-site Starbucks breakfast sandwiches. I would definitely return and stay at the Marriott Metro.

I stayed here with an 11 year old....we both found it an easy walk to all the sights..the room wasn't huge...but the king bed was very comfortable...room service was fast, inexpensive, and good...All the staff were very helpful and friendly...even quickly coming to our rescue when we locked ourselves out of our room...in our pajamas.. Starbucks in the lobby for those addicted...
very close to Chinatown also...

It is wonderful to stay in a hotel that is located within walking distance of all the sites in Washington DC. The White House is a few blocks as is the Mall with all of its monuments and museums. The hotel itself is wonderfully appointed. Considering it is a downtown hotel and room sizes are at a premium, we had plenty of room. The parking is exorbitant, but to be expected.

The first room they gave me smelled so bad I didn't take it. The second had open windows and was better so i took it. But the next day when housekeeping closed the windows I returned to that same stinky locker room smell. It's not the bedding or furniture or new carpet or wallpaper so it's either the ventilation, ceiling, or inside the walls themselves. Or something I'm overlooking. Bottom line, the rooms smell like a college football locker room so don't stay here. Hall smells a little like greasy meat exhaust too. Staff are fine and so are facilities, but rooms smell bad. Don't stay here.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere. Or at least avoid floor 11. Maybe the other ones are better.

Dear L K
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback during your stay. I would like to apologize that you found the odor of the room so offensive. We have just recently renovated all our guestrooms and have never had a report of this type of odor. I have asked housekeeping to deep clean and deodorize the rooms you visited and the hallway on the 11th floor. All of us here understand how important odor is to the overall cleanliness of the hotel and we work diligently to provide the cleanest possible rooms for all our guests. I hope we have a chance to redeem ourselves should your travels bring you back to DC. Feel free to contact me I would be happy to assist. Steven Smith Director of Operations.

We were lucky enough to pick this hotel for a really great special. The location is fantastic, as is the amenities. The gym is large and well equiped, the kids loved the pool and we adults loved the Starbucks downstairs for our morning lattes (as well as Macy's across the road for that retail theraphy when all the attractions shut at 5). The laundry is free, however we found having only 1 washer and 1 dryer a problem when there was a softball tournament on, all staying in the hotel and needing to wash their uniforms. I would rather pay and have more machines available.
We did not try the restaurant, as the menu and pricing did not appeal to us, however there were heaps of fantastic restaurants near by. The location was great and whilst we did walk a fair bit, we did not have the need for any other means of transport during our 4 day stay.
Would definately have no hesitation in recommending or staying at again. If I had to pick one thing I could say was negative, it would be that whilst the staff were friendly, some were a little too snobby, not making us feel as relaxed and welcome as other Marriotts we stay at, but we didn't let that bother us, we still had a great stay.

We stayed for 3 nights and would definitely return. Marina at the Bar did a great job providing excellent priced selections during Happy Hour everyday. The location is clean and safe. Check In was quick and the Marriott beds are comfy as always. Having a Starbucks downstairs was an added bonus too.
