The location is great, particularly if you want to arrive and leave by metro. It is not clearly marked, but you can exit Metro Center almost directly into the hotel and avoid weather if need be. The room I had had an interesting layout and comfortable chair -- good alternative to watching tv in bed. The main gripe is that the hotel has really outrageous prices for food. Save some money and walk around the block to any coffee shop or restaurant and you will find better coffee, food and service. If you pay as much as the Hyatt price on line, you are a fool. There is always a discount available somewhere otherwise it would not be so full of families and tourists. They have a nice bank of elevators, but you will spend time waiting since it seems only 2 or 3 are ever in service. Front desk service is efficient and very helpful.

Room Tip: Food may be tasty, the prices were not thus a terrible rating.

Staff was more pleasant and professional than any other hotel I have stayed in Washington DC. The room was clean and the catering was prepared and served well. Business services were plentiful and variety of restaurants on site offered fare for many different occasions.

I spent nine days here, most of it for business, but the brief leisure time I had was excellently planned by Jonathan in Concierge. The hotel's amenities are wonderful, restaurants are great, and the staff, from my housekeeper to the Starbuck's barrista, knew my likes and dislikes by the end of the second day. I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt for anyone interested in visiting the DC Metro area

We don't normally stay at Hyatts. It is a nice hotel. But as soon as one checks in, the hotel is constantly trying to gouge more fees out of its patrons. The biggest rip-off is the internet fee for every device -- minimum $10 for the basic and $20 for the premium per device. Internet is free at the sidewalk resturant. At the Hyatt in Philly, there was free internet. The pool is really small and it is not a place one would particularly refreshing in the hot DC summer.

Yes, the Grand Hyatt is quite disappointing. I don't think we will ever book Hyatt again.

Room Tip: Beware of hotel called the Grand Hyatt Washington.

Overall good experience. Coffee maker in room made bad coffee, one small elevator to go from lobby to the five floors below ground where the dining and meeting facilities were. They want you to use the escalators, not a god idea when you are wearing an evening gown, in a wheelchair, with a walker, using a cane, or carrying several items. Beds very comfortable. Would like to have experienced the Grand Club, not available!

The Hotel was average, people were nice, the bathroom could have been cleaner but best of all there were no bed bugs in the room. I would difinitely come here again. The gym was decent except for not enough air conditioning in the treadmill room.

Location couldn't be much better. Centrally located within walking distance from most of the major sites. Nice lobby and decent rooms. Service overall was very mediocre. A big hotel whose management has clearly made a conscious effort to minimize costs by limiting the number and training of staff giving it a bit of a budget feel. Reasonable price though, Net, I would recommend and would stay here again.
