Stayed at this hotel for 4 nites over the New Year's weekend. Paid for a deluxe room with 2 TV's and my husband and I ended up with an efficiency unit that we were not pleased with (one TV). Felt claustrophobic upon entering the room and called the desk immediately and they would not change the room. We had arrived early and other guests had not so do not understand why the room could not be changed. Tried 3 times in less than an hour to have room changed but desk would not do so. Although room very clean, it was very drafty and cold with a continous breeze right down the middle of the room. Also, found the bathroom very cold at all times. Our unit did not have a separate bedroom (as pictured in ads) and the way the bed was situated, you felt the walls were closing in on you. When hotel emptied out after the weekend, we were still not offered a bigger room.
Unit had a small refrigerator, a two-burner stove top, and a microwave. Plenty of dishes, utensils, and pots and pans should you want to cook breakfast, etc. Good location very close to Metro..quiet neighborhood, but would not stay here again at this hotel based on our experience. Bed was very hard, and only one very small hard loveseat to sit on. Room too small to spend 4 days in.

We stayed at this wonderful older hotel for 6 nights in October of 2005. We had a spacious corner suite with fully equipped kitchenette (frig, sink, stovetop, microwave, dishes, etc.). Although the furniture was somewhat worn, we were very comfortable. Lots of closet space, 2 TV's, and triple sheets on a nice firm mattress. Excellent, helpful staff that were polite and helpful without "butt kissing". The location is excellent just a short walk from the University and Metro station. The restaurant on the ground floor serves some of the best Italian food we've ever eaten and there is also a TGI Friday's a few blocks away and a little place called Lindy's that serves the best hamburgers ever. The breakfast offerings at the hotel are limited but convenient (expensive for eggs and toast). Overall, a very pleasant stay at very reasonable rates (average about $200 per nite). We will stay here again. FYI- a supermarket, liquor store and pharmacy are located just a few blocks away at the WAtergate complex.

The location of the GW cannot be beat, less than a block from the Foggy Bottom metro station and close to lots of stuff in DC. The property itself is an eight story suite hotel on a quiet street. There are no public areas to speak of, although a new restaurant just opened and there is a very small bar. My room was a large 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette (microwave, fridge, stove), two TVs, and good
a/c. Although it was clean, the furniture was worn, the shower had no water pressure, and the bed (and sofa) was hard. If you are just going to be in town for business and want a place to sleep, this is a good choice. For ambiance or luxury, look elsewhere. Also: the website claims a continental breakfast, but there is a $10 charge for really really lousy food. Beware!

I spent the Labor Day weekend in Washington and stayed at the GWU Inn which is located in Foggy Bottom right next to Georgetown. I arrived Friday evening and was promptly checked in with no delays or fuss. When I entered my room ( I booked a standard) I was delighted to see that I had been upgraded to a beautiful suite. This suite was huge with a nice living room with large windows and impressive views of the Kennedy Center, The Watergate and I could even see the venerable old G'town University in the distance. There was also a kitchenette which had a microwave, fridge, stovetop with two burners a kettle and coffee service with "get this" a coffee grinder with fresh beans so you could brew your own fresh joe (nice touch). The bedroom featured a king sized bed and there were televisions in both the living room and bedroom. The bath was large with a tub and shower and nice plush terry cloth bathrobes. This Inn is perfectly located near the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro and you are within walking distance of historic and trendy Georgetown. The staff members were all very kind and extremely professional. This was my first stay at the GWU Inn, however, it will certainly not be my last.

We just returned from a summer trip to the Capital and this place fit our needs. We were travelling with a 16 yo, so we wanted to be able to have privacy, yet be together. Their one bedroom suites solved the problem. It is located near to everything, just a short Metro away for those who don't feel like walking. The metro is located 1 1/2 blocks away and it is so clean and fast. It takes a bit to figure out how to use the farecards, but that's not the hotel's problem lol.
It's located in a quiet area, with views of the Watergate hotel and the Kennedy Center. (only 1-2 blocks away). The kitchenete was ok, mid sized dorm refrigerator, 2 burner stove, coffeemaker and toaster and assorted pots, plates, and silverware was available. They did NOT have any complimentary breakfasts available, so bring whatever you need-- we never did find a supermarket nearby. A 7-11 is up the blocks, but you pay dearly for anything there.
We did eat breakfast at the cafteria at the GW university Hospital (located at the metro stop) Good breakfast, good price.
Some Negatives, No pool is available (much to the concern of our 16 yo,) they do valet the cars-(additional fee for parking), not all of them are kept on premises, which we were not informed of. You need to give them 20 minutes notice for the car.
On the whole, we enjoyed out stay, and would stay here again.
