“Good Location”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

Stayed at the hotel for two nights rooms are very clean and we were suprised by the size of the them, it is in a good location close to Metro, restaurants bars etc. the staff were friendly and helpful the only negative point was the breakfast there was cereal, bread and muffins not very inspiring and neither was the restaurant in which we had it.

Location Next to GWU campus and hospital. Also close to Watergate and Kennedy center. Foggy Bottom Metro station a couple of blocks away. Hotel lobby under renovation. Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms large and clean, could use updating though Good for a quick business stop would go elsewhere is require amenities like in hotel restaurant. Staff states work out gym is planned in near future.

We stayed at the GWU inn earlier this week and the experienced was mixed with some notably negative points.

First the positive points, the hotel is really conveniently situated for the Metro with access to the city centre. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean with fridge and microwave tucked into a side space away from the main bedroom. Majority of the staff was brilliant, with the star being Lavelle the receptionist/concierge/heroine, she was extremely helpful and always pleasant in her interaction with us. Also the man who worked in the lobby was brilliant with husband during their chats.

I can't comment on the restaurant there for evening meals as we didn't eat there during our three night stay, but the menu looked great.

Now the negative.

Firstly if you own an apple product expect to visit reception a lot because WIFI keeps turning off and the normal password will not work. Lavelle first heroic act, she's the only one who seems to know how to access the system by a certain route.

Thank heavens I took my IPad though, otherwise we would not had found out the hotel system had charges us not only twice, but also to a greater amount that took 2 days to sort out. We found it confusing and unacceptable that this had happened, again Lavelle was the one to sort it for us. It also didn't help that the other receptionist seem to show no interest in us when we booked out at the end of the stay... We wished Lavelle had been available!

Thirdly, don't bother trying for breakfast there, for $10 all that was on offer were some muffins and basic breads on a small table, I don't know whether it was because there was construction going on in the building but it didn't allow you to get some decent food inside you for major walking in the city.

Lastly the construction while not inconvenient generally, it wasnt pleasant to be woken at 8am to sounds echoing through the building, we feel we should have been warned.

Generally our stay was very enjoyable, and we would recommend the hotel to others.

I recently spent one night at the GWUI, and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms! There was a living room, bedroom and kitchen area, which would be great if you're staying in town for a week long visit.

There is a 7 Eleven store a block away, that has all kinds of snacks that you would want for your room. In addition, the hotel is within easy walking distance to many restaurants.

Overall, I would stay here again, especially if I bring my kids or stay for an extended period of time.

This inn is on a quiet residential street and is a short walk to the Kennedy Center, the university, Georgetown and a metro station. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The towels were thick. The tub and tiles needed an update. Employees were friendly and helpful.

We could clearly hear the people in the next room. The lobby is very small; really just a hallway. Breakfast was basic motel quality buffet but expensive.

We chose this inn for the location. The price was reasonable for DC and we would stay there again if we wanted to be in that part of the city.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked some private backyards so there was little street noise.

The GWU Inn isn't the fanciest or most up-to-date, but the location and service are great and it's incredibly clean.

Just a bit over 1 blk from the Foggy Bottom Metro, new restaurants and a Whole Foods Market nearby, a short walk to the Kennedy Center and reasonable pricing. I liked the dark curtains for a long sleep.

You are correct in saying that GWU Inn isn't the fanciest or most up-to-date, but we are currently one week into our entrance level renovation which will add a nice touch to the property. The lobby and front desk area will be adjusted inorder for us to front face our entrance door to provide a better welcome to our guest as well as the new fitness and business centers that are being installed opposite the lobby. We are pleased that in lieu of the flaws you did find our location and service to be satisfying.

Thanks again for sharing your comments.

The people who work here are exceptionally nice, and the rooms are spotless, though its an older building. Parking is available by valet at $20+ per day. The metro stop is about 3 blocks away to get you anywhere you need to go. No reason not to stay here, though prices are about average for downtown DC. Continental breakfast available next door, but don't bother - find a cafe in town and you'll be happier...
