“But not a value”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

The "superior" rooms are cleverly arranged, but quite small. No place to hang things. A claustrophobic feeling. We were there during the recent heat wave and the AC was pressed to make the room tolerable.

So it's a good hotel, but there are others that present better value at less cost.

Eventhough the hotel was old, it did not smell anything old. Our room was spotless everyday. My personal favorite that stands out was how much courteous all the staff were from the doorman, housekeeper, and the receptionist. Talelia and Tonya exceptional customer service. Complimentary 2 bottled water in the room everyday. There was a small ref (for the mini bar--which we try not to touch, since it will probably cost us an arm/a leg). For a family who is already spending a lot of $$$ for this trip, we need an ice box so we can put a yogurt, fruit, or h2o from the next door's CVS pharmacy. An ice box is more functional for a vacationing family.
Starbacks was just next building.
CVS pharmacy, Krispy Kream, and Panera across the street.
Lots of decent restaurants around the vicinity.
Public transportation including metro bus, train, and big bus tour just outside the building.
About 15-20 minutes walk to The White House but Chipotle and Mcdonalds on the way. (I think the most economical meals were from those two).
(Few homeless along the streets but I guess everywhere in DC you can see them)

This is my favorite hotel in DC. The location is excellent, the food is awesome, the atmosphere is great and the staff is the best. I was there from July 11-18, 2013 and the service was always excellent I loved my room. It was beautiful and clean and the housekeeping staff was the best. All of the people were awesome but my favorite people were Michael, the concierge (impeccable service) and D'Andre, the bellman (the kindest bellman ever with impeccable service too). They were one of the reasons I chose this hotel for my convention stay versus the host hotels. The bed is a good quality and the furniture is nice. The prices are also reasonable.

Room Tip: I always stay in a room facing the street.

Stayed 4 nights on the last week of June. Very posh rooms, great bedding, pillows are like clouds. A/C worked like a charm & the heated floors were a surprised! Check in went smooth & we noticed their bar area was lively & full of beautiful people.

Ate at their cafe 2 times, it was that good (Once for happy hour & breakfast)! We enjoyed our time @ DC because of the hotel. It could of been a bust bec we were there when DC & Virgina had terrible rainstorms (some areas lost power). But we had places to go nearby ---about 6 restaurants literally across the street. Including Starbucks and a bookstore/cafe/bar with live music on weekends open 24 hrs. (Kramers).

It's a great thrill to host first time visitors, and we're glad to hear that you enjoyed the many amenities of your room and our property. Given the unfortunate weather of your stay, I'm also glad to hear that our prime location was able to offer you a variety of alternatives to the rainy streets. A good and reasonably priced hotel, very well located on Dupont Circle. Rooms have a decent size (for DC standards) and are nicely decorated and well equipped, with an iPhone compatible alarm clock/radio, large working desk with confortable armchair, and a good quality bed. Large bathroom with heated floor. On the down side, window blinds let easily the sunshine in, which is probably why an eye mask is provided, and air-conditioning was particulalry noisy. I had an otherwise quiet room facing the backstreet, but friends staying in the same hotel complained that their rooms facing the Circle were too noisy because of traffic as from early morning. Windows seemd to be single glazed and not well isolated. Service was good and staff professional. I appreciated the free Wifi throughout the hotel, with easy login procedure (no difficult login/passwords to remember) - certainly a big big plus, although the signal in my room was sometimes weak.
Location is fantastic, in a lively area with restaurants, cafes, shops, and convenience stores. Metro station virtually on the door step, several bus lines (including the Circulator), as well as a shared-bikes station. Will certainly go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a backstreet room as they are quieter

bed excellent. pillow excellent. air quality is fresh. all else normal upper value hotel room except for the bathroom. that was better because it had a noticeable floor. looked like slate but was comfortable and felt SAFE. not slip feel. comfortable and sure contact of feet to the floor. I liked that very much. then I learned it is a heated floor and that was just wild! another personal preference that was a pleasant surprise was a window in the shower. I like an open window with outside air when taking a shower.
