“Surprisingly Impressed”
Reviewed February 2, 2007

I stay at Courtyards frequently, partially because you pretty much know what to expect. This time, I was pleasantly surprised! The entire staff treated me like I was staying at a 5 star resort - welcoming, accommodating and cheerful. Check-in was a breeze - the valet beat me to the front desk, gave them my name to pull up my reservation and generate a car claim. They asked if I wanted to go ahead and use the business center adjacent to the front desk to print my boarding pass while they managed my bags.

The room was nicely done, with that wonderful Marriott bed. There was a handwritten, personalized welcome note and free bottled water.

Since it was really cold out, I asked about dinner options as close by as possible (and being near Dupont Circle, there are plenty). After giving me several choices, they also pointed out dinner was being served in the lounge. Being tired and not expecting much, I went that route. It was great! Very comfortable atmosphere for a single woman diner, where I could flip through a magazine while having a glass of wine. The blackened salmon caeser salad was literally the best I've ever had - topped with an entire dinner-size portion of salmon.

I wish I'd spent more than 1 night! On my next trip to the Baltimore/DC area - this is where I'm staying.

Never could get the temperature regulated in the room, since the weather was unseasonably warm. Halls very narrow, too quiet, seemed almost creepy. The entire hotel seemed devoid of life. Breakfast was very expensive for the offering. Bed was just okay. Staff was friendly, but not very experienced. Best part of the whole deal was Marriott's points, but I will not do that again.

I stayed at this hotel for one night in December 06. The hotel was clean, staff was attentive, and room was normal size. Breakfast was ok but the breakfast room is a bit undersized. The hotel is 4 or 5 blocks uphill from the DuPont Circle Metro stop. It was an easy walk to the Metro so I found the hotel to have a convenient location. Lots of decent dining options in the area. This is a comfortable business hotel that is a good option in DC where hotel prices tend to be a bit ridiculous.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in Sept. This hotel is more than comfortable although not what you'd call glamourous. The lobby is quite attractive although small but the staff are welcoming. The room is what you'd expect from a chain, nothing out of the ordinary but its clean and well presented. The bathroom was on the small side but OK. What I liked about the hotel is two fold. Firstly it has a lovely bar off the lobby for a comfortable sit down over a cocktail before going out to dinner. Secondly, from the hotel its a comfortable 5-10 min walk to all the cafes and bars in Adams Morgan or 5 mins to many more in Dupont Cirlce. Also in Dupont Circle you have the Metro which is so easy to access.(There are really helpful staff here too, who help you buy the correct ticket) We chose the hotel because it gave us a better rate (not cheap after conversion to the Aust. dollar!) than other hotels in the area. I'd recommend a stay if you a mindful of your budget but want great access to public transport and a large choice for dinner.

Stayed here for a one-night business trip. Room was nicely furnished w/ a comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean. Best features: convenient to Dupont Circle businesses. Good breakfast buffet in hotel. Gripes: pool was closed for season (even though it was still summer weather out), HVAC unit in room was very noisy & hard to regulate. An unremarkable property with few amenities; you can do much better for over $200/night, even in pricey DC.

Excellent location. Room very cramped, the AC/heater was extremely loud and the illumination for the hotel sign outside shone right in the bathroom window. Asked for king bed and upper floor and got neither. In the fitness room, the aerobic equipment was two treadmills that you had to be less than 6' tall to use (low ceiling) and two bikes, one of which didn't work. Bottom line is that it was serviceable but nothing more.

If you want to stay at a nice, comfortable, Marriott and pay very little money then stay here. It is the best deal in DC by far, particularly for the business traveler not in want of luxury and self-aggrandizement. The free Internet service was great and it worked perfectly. They do not have wireless from the rooms but so what.

It's a good spot as well even if you're not there on business, but casually visititing the sights or some old friends but feel like having your own place. It's a mere short walk to Dupont Circle! I paid $99/night plus tax.

Enjoy it.
