This hotel offers large rooms with kitchens in downtown DC. The location is quite good. While there is not a lot right around the hotel, it is located centrally between the Lincoln Memorial, Georgetown and Dupont Circle, the latter two which have shopping and many good restaurants. Foggy Bottom metro is fairly close on the opposite side of Washington Circle. The area is noisy, due to the hospital across the Circle and frequent emergency sirens.
The service is good, much like an upscale hotel, though this does mean tipping. Valet parking is convenient, but expensive. There was a fire alarm during our stay and the staff could have done a better job communicating with guests. A free drink or hors d'oeuvre may be offered in the lobby in the evening.
The rooms are large, though most of the space is in the closets, hallways and kitchen, so the main part of the room is not huge. The room is not fancy, and the furnishings are fairly cheap, with some of the knobs and so forth starting to break. The room was clean. Including a coffee grinder and whole beans is a nice touch. There are balconies in at least some rooms.
The hotel restaurant is upscale, but is available for coffee or a drink as well. For simpler fair, Burger Shake and Tap across the circle is a good option.More
