“In need of some TLC”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We (pensioners) stayed here 4 nights in October 2012 Our suite on the 8th floor was large, comfortable and clean with a tiny kitchen area plus microwave and fridge but i need of redecoration. Bed large and v comfortable and room quiet.. However the fridge froze everything put in it and the WC failed to flush properly from time to time. The reception staff were fairly disinterested but efficient.

At breakfast, there was a decent selection of food for (bowl of fresh fruit was much appreciated) but both breakfast rooms were very small and crowded and each had TWO TVs broadcasting loudly! This is a pricey hotel and needs some redecoration and some improvements at the edges to make it value for money. The position is excellent for sightseeing being 10 mins walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station.

The Whole Foods shop near the Metro is excellent for wholesome take aways etc.

Room Tip: Choose a room above the 5th floor and pay the extra for suite.

We reserved a room for 3 nights las september.
The hotel is well located, not far from Georgetown Center and from metro stations.
The lobby is clean, the chek-inn is quick made by a not very welcome staff,
( at least the one who took care of us ).
The rooms are spacious, clean, with a small sitting area and a small kitchen, we had a room at the back of the building which is good because there is no street noise.
Continental breakfast was nice, the morning waitress there is lovely.
To Summarize, if I have to go back to DC, I'll go back to the Best Western Georgetown.

Room Tip: "Choose a room at the back of the building because there is no special vue from the street room...

We stayed here 6 nights in September and everything was absolutely fine - no problems at all. Our suite was large, comfortable and clean with a tiny kitchen area plus microwave. The reception staff were friendly, there was a decent selection of food for breakfast (bowls of fresh fruit was much appreciated) and it was nice and quiet. The decor probably needs updating in the near future but we spent little time in the hotel so the dated decor wasn't a problem. There was free wi-fi and a nice seating area at reception. We found this an excellent base - close to lots of restaurants and shops and about 30 minutes walk to the White House or about 20 minutes into Georgetown. You can also get the open-top tour bus from just up the street which is handy for seeing all the sights. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Washington.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are overlooked by offices so it can be a bit dim in the room (but there were plent...

Let's face it: Decent hotels - in Washington DC - are expensive. Add the 14.5% tax rate and, well, OUCH.

After a little research, I initially booked our stay with our favorite hotel chain (starts with the letter "H"). The location of the H hotel was on the east side of DC, far from the attractions. After booking the hotel, I read a few new reviews here on TripAdvisor and didn't like what I was reading..."Couldn't sleep...bar across the street with loud music into the wee hours of the night..." "The neighborhood felt unsafe, especially at night..." And so I cancelled our booking with this favorite chain and went with the Best Western Georgetown. Ended up spending a little more, probably due to the convenient location, but I think it was well worth it.

Best Western Georgetown's location is great - just a ten minute walk from the Foggy Bottom train station. The neighborhood felt safe enough, and there are many restaurants nearby. Whole Foods is a five minute walk from the hotel - so convenient!

The hotel itself is okay. About what I expected. We had a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was small with no ventilation. The bathroom was clean, but not spotless. I gave it some thought: It would be nearly impossible to keep hotel rooms "pristine," as we'd all like to have them. And housekeeping crews are not paid nearly enough to scrub every nook and cranny. (I have respect for these hard-working people!).

Don't forget to tip your housekeeper.

Beds were comfy and the room was quiet. TV was good...I like the "clean remote." Surround-sound coming from the TV was a little strange...

No sign of bedbugs... Yes, leery about this, as these uninvited guests can appear at ANY hotel - even the best of them. But not a problem at the Best Western Georgetown. Not in the room we stayed in, anyway.

Not much to say about the free continental breakfast. At least it's there for those who care to indulge, but we did not partake. I did have the coffee and it was good. The food did not look appetizing at all...pastries are most likely frozen and then defrosted, as the donuts were "wet." Nothing yuckier than a wet donut! Hard-boiled eggs, cold cereal, oatmeal, bagels, bread and a toaster. The usual continental fare.

Would we stay here again? Probably so, especially if we're looking to save a buck. For us, it was a good value.

This is the first review that I have ever written and I just want to make people aware of our experience at this hotel. My friends and I came up from Baltimore, Maryland for a girl’s night out in DC. We booked this hotel in advance because of the great location and the price was reasonable compared to some other hotels in the area. We stayed in suite 100 located on the first floor. THIS ROOM HAS BED BUGS!!!!!!! When my friends and I arrived in the room, we did not pull out the sleeper sofa located in the living area space right away. When we came back from partying for the night and were ready to go to sleep, we pulled out the sleeper sofa and there was a Bed Bugs crawling across it. We took pictures and went to the front desk to show the manager to try to get a refund. The manager attempted to move us to another room on the 7th floor; however, we were not interested after seeing that. He did refund us our money and we ended up driving back home at 5:00 am. This was one of the major problems with this hotel. Other problems were the mildew smell that smacked us in the face when we entered the establishment as well as the $24.99 parking charge. On top of that, the garage is around the corner from the hotel.

One thing I can say is that the staff is friendly and was very helpful. The staff was the best thing about this hotel besides the location.

If you book this hotel, please inspect your room and bed before settling in.

Room Tip: Whatever you do, dont stay in room 100. This suite has bed bugs!!!

Only stayed one night. The room was spacious and well-equiped with a microwave and small table and chairs for eating several charis and a couch. No lunch or dinner there, but plenty of restaurants near-by. Free breakfast served each morning on lower level. Lots of noise outside at night including sirens, construction. Near Dupont Circle and close to DC attractions by taxi (about $10 one way). OK for a night but with the nighttime noise, I wouldn't want to stay there several days.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms overlooking the street if noise bothers you at night.
