“Amazing topping bar!”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

The falafel is made fresh, and they're far from stingy when it comes with the quantity. i actually ate a few before i could add toppings to my sandwich, so i wouldn't end up with a sloppy heavy pita!

“Fun post-bar chow”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

There is no way this is the best falafel ever as some reviews have mentioned, at least not sober. But I think that is basically the point of this place. We walked in a little after 11pm on a Tuesday night and there were two guys working: one guys was cooking, the other guy who was apparently “working” was teetering back and forth shoving food in his face. While the falafel was a little dry, they had a nice, complex flavor and they were not stingy with the quantity. Then you get to pick from 20-30 condiments, ranging from tanziki and hummus, to cilantro/jalapeno purees. It is a really cool idea and largely executed quite well. The price is ridiculously cheap as well and beats any other type of post-bar food available at this time of day. Would I stop here again for lunch – probably not; would I stop here again after a few beers – absolutely. Great simple stuff.

“Great value but fill your pitta wisely”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We attended late on a Saturday evening. The queue was out the door, but moved swiftly as this place only serves falafel, fries and drinks.

You order and pay for your falafel at the till, with a simple choice of wheat or white, regular or large. A pitta with falafel is then handed to you, and you move along a salad bar and fill the pitta yourself. The fillings on offer are classics such as humous, cucumber salad and beet root. There is a warning that some are spicy, but the salsa we had was quite mild.

There are instructions on the wall guiding you through the best way to fill (squash the falafel, allow fillings down either side). Unfortunately we still got it wrong, and ended with a top-heavy pitta with plenty of topping at first but dry falafel towards the bottom.

The store is small with a few tables and stools around the edge. There are a few seats outside. Despite it being busy, there is such a rapid turnover that there was usually a few spare seats dotted around. Be prepared to eat out on the street if necessary.

This is certainly not the best falafel I have ever eaten, but was still very tasty and represented great value in an expensive city. Perhaps visit some of the local bars, and line the stomach with a welcome, late-night falafel.

“BEST FALAFEL”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I've had a lot falafel in my life and this place consistently offers up the best. We went recently after not having been there for a couple of years and were reminded of how great it is. The biggest con is the location in terms of finding parking or being metro accessible. It's short order and is set up as a buffet where you add the toppings you want. Don't go here expecting to get served or expecting great atmosphere. It's casual and you serve yourself once they give you the warm pita (white or wheat, medium or small) with fresh falafel balls. It's great with friends late night or for dinner and is very reasonable at less than $10.They also have several sauces you can add from tahini to garlic mayo. Enjoy!

“Amazing every time!!!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

This is one of the best falafel shops I've been anywhere!!! Consistently amazing food in this hole in the wall - falafels and fries made to order every time - awesome topping bar. My girlfriend even suggested we go here for our first anniversary. Of course, I took her to a nicer place, but made her day and surprised her with a gift certificate to go together another time. Anytime I'm in Adams Morgan I'll pick up falafel for her to surprise her! :-)

Also recommend getting the orange juice - they give you fresh oranges to put right in the juicer - yum!
