Owner description: The open-top deck of a Big Bus tour is the best way to see Washington DC. Sit back and relax as you are transported passed the iconic landmarks that make America's Capital so recognizable and special. Our sightseeing tours are designed to provide a flexible approach to city discovery. Your hop-on, hop-off ticket provides you the freedom to get off the bus to explore and visit attractions. Buses run regularly so re-joining the tour is easy.

It's a must do for every first timer in Washington. I used to think those bus tours sucked, but on such a city as this one, you definitely don't want to walk it all over the place. The hop-on hop-off aspect is pretty nice, as you can stop where you want and get back on the next bus. We took the night tour (so no hop-off option) but I think it made the tour even more exciting. The tour goes to all the notable places. By the way, watch your head if you're on the second floor as Washinton has a lot of overhanging branches and I almost got hit a few times.

Our tour guide Joey Welsh really knew her stuff and made it very interesting as if it happened yesterday! Her wonderful jokes and sense of humor turned our nations capitol history into fun and yet provoke me into wanting to learn more. Bravo, Joey, Bravo!!! Thank you, also to her driver who made the entire time and trip a pleasure!

If you are planning to visit WashingtonDC for a weekend and yet would like to visit all the popular monuments, memorials and musuems, this would be your best bet both economical and timewise. We were content with the Red + Blue loop trips (Called the Patriot tour) for nearly $35 per adult for 24 hours. Make sure you read the map thoroughly and plan accordingly. Our only disappointment was that we took the bus tickets late by 11 AM ( you would better purchase this by 8 AM and start touring for the day from 830 AM) and the last bus is till 6 PM ( though they say it is a 24 hour window, you can travel till 6 PM alone and then have to take the bus the next day from 8 AM till the time of your purchase). There are recorded information being played which is informative. I just wished the buses were spaced appropriately as during our trip on that particular day, the bus was following one another in a 5 minutes gap and we had to wait a longer time than ususal to catch the next one if we missed it at that time. We booked through our hotel and it might be a better idea to book through their site for tour guide information. I have not seen a tour guide on our buses at any time.

This hop on hop off tour bus company operates on 3 x routes around DC and takes you to all the National Monuments and places of interest. Buses on the 3 routes overlap so plan where you want to go to maximise your visit.
We went to DC at the weekend and used Big Bus tours to navigate around. The buses aren't cheap but represent the best method of getting around when you have a limited time to spend in the City
Service starts at 10am and terminate about 6pm. It got busy from 12 noon onwards so expect to queue.
Guides are knowledgable and happy to give pointers about places where tourists gather in their hundreds

We weren't even tour customers and found ourself stranded at a Metro bus stop near the Lincoln Memorial at night. The Big Bus driver told us that the buses stopped running an hour earlier then asked where we were going! "Come on. That's on my route!" WILL I RECOMMEND BIG BUS TO EVERYONE I KNOW? HELL YEAH! Thank you for being so kind to a couple of foolish old tourists!!!
