Consider yourself warned - Embassy Circle Guest House is addicting. You’ll find yourself planning trips to Washington, DC just to stay there. It’s all Laura & Raymond Saba’s fault. They’re the owners – and they treat you like the most pampered house guest in town (probably because you are). Breakfast, cocktails – in the dining room and living room. Along with great conversation. More like a salon than a hotel. The Sabas give new meaning to B&B. They seem to think it means Best & Beyond. That’s the only way they know how to do things. Gloriously restored former embassy (ergo, the name); fresh-made treats, even meals, time & mood permitting (Raymond’s a great cook). Civility reigns. I promise you, it’s worth leaving home for.

My husband and I love the ECGH and its caring owners and staff; we wouldn't consider a trip to the District without a stay here. The accommodations are beautiful, the rooms quiet, the food excellent, the company interesting, and the location strategic. Antiques and original art abound; sleeping is a breeze due to the ECGH's quiet location; breakfast is always delicious and filling; and Dupont Circle - with museums, shops, restaurants and the metro - is a short walk away. Conversations are lively in the dining room at breakfast and in the living room with cocktails in the early evening. You'll meet friendly people from all over the world here. Laura and Raymond put the needs of their guests first, and they have a delightful sense of humor that is infectious. Stay here and you'll never stay anywhere else in Washington.

And that reason is because Raymond, Laura and their staff go above and beyond.

The building has been beautifully converted from an old embassy and is in one of the nicest safest parts of DC just 3 or 4 blocks from Dupont Circle with various diplomats and possibly politicians for neighbours.

We stayed three nights in room 101 on the basement level at the front but heard little outside noise and only a few footsteps from above. We were jet laged and tired which often means a restless first night but although we awoke early, we were refreshed enough to walk over 13 miles around DC that day. The rooms was a decent size for a city B&B with a small but beautifully appointed and designed bathroom with a small but powerful shower.

Breakfast was continental with a fresh fruit bowl in addition to all the usual goodies. Both our delightful hosts were around to discuss important matters of state (both then and over a glass of wine in the evening) and neither were shy of expressing opinions, something to be aware of if you prefer peace and quiet with your coffee but not a problem for us.

The bonus was the kind offer by Raymond to drive us to Union station on our final morning in order to collect our hire car. It took an hour out of his day and he dropped us off right at the garage rather than at the desk in the station which saved us considerable time.

I can truly say we haven't stayed in a better run or designed B&B throughout our travels across the US and I would recommend the property to anyone with the proviso that you need to be prepared to discuss things that you might not normally do on a holiday!

We spent two nights at Embassy Circle and enjoyed its location very near Dupont Circle and the metro. The owners were courteous and our room was comfortable. On the second day, housekeeping refreshed the room and replenished the towels and toiletries (Gilchrist & Soames) in the bathroom, which was equipped with a shower head that had several settings to choose from (the shower could use a bit more water pressure/water volume but that, of course, is just my personal opinion), towels, a small bottle of combination shampoo/conditioner, two bars of facial soap, and a small container of lotion. The room itself was very nice and we enjoyed the view of the embassies. The whole house is well kept and tastefully decorated. The guest rooms are divided amongst the 3rd floor, the second floor, the first floor/lobby level, and the basement/lower level. We enjoyed the book selection in the bookcase in the foyer. We attended the happy hour on our second night, where there was wine, an assortment of nuts, a small bowl of dried figs, and some cheese. Breakfast was adequate and exactly as the website described. On our first morning, both hosts were sitting at the table and conversing with the guests. On the second morning, they did not join us at the table and the guests conversed among themselves. Both times the conversations went well and people were, for the most part, relaxed. All in all, a very convenient location in a beautifully restored house.

I have just had a wonderful week at the Embassy Circle Guest House with an old friend. Everything was perfect, I felt so at home there. Laura and Raymond Saba could not have been more helpful to us. Washington DC is a great city made so all the more by having such a haven to go back to in the evening after all the sightseeing we were doing all day!

Every aspect, including staff, service etc was excellent. I hope that I will return one day.
