“Not my first visit and certainly not my last”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

I think it's worth re-reviewing PS 7's since it's been quite a while since my last visit. What I love about this restaurant is the excellent service, quality and creativity of the cuisine and the fact that it's quiet enough that you can actually hear your dinner companion. The bar was doing quite a business from the occasional yelps and curses (think intoxicated Capitals hockey fans) but there is enough distance between the two spaces that it didn't impact my meal. Pork sticky buns and chicken and mushroom cigars for starters, followed by the special duck confit ravioli, fried oysters and amazing spinach salad with bacon and feta ensured we walked away satisfied. The cocktail list is always evolving - love the Punch of the Day and the Smashberry. No room for dessert this visit but we'll be back soon!

“Wonderful service. Salty food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2012

Superb service. Lovely atmosphere. Amazing cocktails.
The food was so-so.
Several dishes were extremely salty. Their signature appetizer dish of sticky buns with pork was nothing special.
My husband's Kobe beef dish was over cooked and when the waiter aksed how things were and my husband hesitated slightly, the waiter was already picking the dish up to return it for one properly cooked. The manager apologized & brought an appetizer over for my husband while he waited. So, this was handled nicely by all, but over cooked Kobe shouldn't happen at a high end restaurant.
My boneless chicken breast was cooked to perfection but was salty.

“Aaaaah NO, PS 7s misses the mark”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2012

Yes, it has a lighted menu which frankly makes it harder to see the very very limited menu, maybe thats why they did it, its got some cool swank decor, but honestly It's just lame, service was slow and unattentive, food was blaa, and atmosphere was, well there wasnt any.

“Excellent food downtown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2012

PS 7 (Peter Smith is the chef-owner of this Seventh Street restaurant) is an attractive setting for excellent food. The cognac-marinated foie gras aged 30 days and the Kobe beef "ravioli" (the ravioli square is under the meat, onions, etc., not around it) stood out. The experience was rounded out by knowledgable attentive service and a good wine list. The crowd is mostly young downtown professionals, who have clearly found it.

“Restaurant Week Disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2012

I decided to give PS 7's a try during restaurant week. In contrast to the positive reviews, I was very disappointed in the quality of the food served. The cocktail we had was so-so. The starters - oysters, salad, flat bread - were excellent, particularly the flat bread. They were large servings. The main course - salmon, pork - was very disappointing. Both were undercooked and really nothing special. The salmon was too sweet and I found the shavings on top distracting and they did not add to the dish. The lentils were bland. The deserts - sweat potato pie and spice cake - were ok. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a very nice ambience. There was no valet parking the night I went, but luckily I found street parking ($6 for 3 hours) without difficulty close by. I was surprised, however, at how dirty the restroom was. The floor of the restroom was very sticky, one sink was stopped up, and it had a run down feel. That really took a shine off the restaurant. With so many excellent restaurants in China Town and Penn Quarter, this is not one I'll visit again.
