Good place for breakfast, which is served all day long, but mediocre for lunch and dinner. The turkey burger I ordered had so much quinoa in it it tasted like a veggie burger. Crowds tend to make this a popular place for the young DC crowd. A bit noisy but sit outside when available.

Even w/ a wait, my ,husband and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, personable and fun even with the busyness of the Sat. AM crowd. My latte was heavenly- and beautiful in its big ceramic cup. We sat in what felt like a sunroom with all its windows. Food was great- especially the potatoes which I usually don't eat. Noisy and close quarters to other diners but a friendly and interesting clientele so we had great conversations w/ folks from Minnesota and artists from Russia.

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Waited for more than half an hour to be seated. Food was great, portions generous and prices very reasonable. Its not hard to understand why this place is always packed.

This is a popular cafe/restaurant with a big menu and noisy crowd. The food is generally above average and it's open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffees to-go e.g. lattes. I want to recommend it and will do so with one caveat: you'll have to wait to order your food and you'll wait for it to arrive. Somehow they haven't come to grips with being a popular restaurant and how to work the flow. It is the only place of its kind so I think it gets away with such erratic service for that reason. Bring a friend or something to read and the wait will be fine. If you're pressed for time, go somewhere else!

Went three times while in DC as it was within walking distance to hotel and had read some decent reviews. Got OC breakfast with meat, potato, egg, and cornmeal pancake. Chicken sausage was cold, almost tasted like it was frozen and not rewarded long enough. Breakfast potatoes were crunchy and overdone. Pancakes were good. Actually ended up getting them twice. Egg was also cold. Would have mentioned something, but the wait staff never checked back in with us after we took the first bite. Friend got the tofu scramble twice and really enjoyed.

Coffees were great. Desserts, tarts, turnovers were marginal. They are in the cooler and I couldn't cut the tart with knife and fork. Cookies were good. Cakes were VERY dry.

Advise to get there before 8 on the weekends to be seated. You can order carry out for coffee and Danishes.
