My son had stumbled across the Blue Duck recently with some friends and insisted that we stop for a unique appetizer of roasted bone marrow. On his first visit, he asked the staff what the best dish was to order and they said the marrow was by far the most popular. He was sold and two days after that experience, he was dragging me there.
The staff was accommodating for a Sunday lunch crowd and with less than 20 minutes reservation notice, they found room for us on the patio. Drinks were a bit slow in delivery but we were well taken care of and the recommended appetizer was terrific. The only disappointment was that at high noon, breakfast was the only option since it was a Sunday. The short rib hash was tasty but there was quite a bit of oil lying in the bottom of the skillet. Certainly some good hangover food for those trying to recover from the night before.
I would definitely return but be sure to bring your wallet, as you could expect to pay a bit extra for any fine dining in DC.
