“Expect the unexpected!”

Great Location - walking distance to a great selection of restaurants and convenience stores, as well as public transport or a walk to the White House! Host Joanna is so helpful to guide you to wherever you want to go. Breakfasts are hearty and creative with a good selection. Nibbles and wine are available in the evenings after a tough day's touring. We also enjoyed chatting with the other like-minded guests from a wide variety of places at breakfast and in the evenings. The lounge and dining areas were available to relax in as well a a computer or free wireless facilities if you have a laptop. Would have no hesitation in recommending this to others and of course staying there again on a future visit.

Room Tip: All rooms including the public areas were air-conditioned. We found our room to be very quiet. Note...

Great breakfasts; Very nice host and the rooms are nicely done. African-American writers theme was also a nice touch.

Perfect for the tourist in Washington. 20 mins walk south to the White House yet round the corner on 17th there's a great selection of mid-priced restaurants. But the best bit is the homely feel that Joanna gives the place - from the first smile of welcome, she looks after all her guests so well. The breakfasts are excellent and huge and the early evening nibbles and wine are much appreciated after a long day out.

We stayed on the fourth floor in a beautiful, large and light room - Inspiration it was called. Quiet and peaceful.

Very highly recommended

I came to Washington DC for pleasure for one evening and was able to book 1 night. The location was convenient to downtown attractions. I was able to find free parking since it was the weekend. Accommodations were very comfortable. I did not get to enjoy the wonderful hot meal as I had other plans but it smelled heavenly! Would stay again if I am in the area!

I just had to write you to say what a great place you have in DC I was down in DC because my Dad was relocated to DC for Surgery and rather than staying in a hotel I looked for a B&B to stay in and luckily there was a room available at your place.
We were greeted by Joanna who is absolutely wonderful and although we were not there for a pleasure able visit she made sure our stay was wonderful.
I would recommend Akwaaba to anyone looking for a charming place to stay in a great location and with the perfect inn keeper

I booked the B&B for my daughter and Grandson based on reviews and I must tell you they were not disappointed. My daughter told me that her every need was met. Even a special breakfast when she didn't care for the one being served. They also enjoyed the canapes served in the evening and my Grandson especially enjoyed the cookies. Not having stayed there, I can't comment that much on the B&B except to say my daughter was delighted with it and my Grandson (13yrs old) said WOW.
