We had a great experience. Check in was very fast and easy. Room was clean with ample space. We needed extra towels, pillows & sheets and they were sent up immediately. The breakfast buffett was was excellent, by far one of the best we have had. It was hot and had a very good selection. It can get very busy and the lines were kind of long. In the evening they offer free drinks and snacks which was a great bonus! Walking distance to all attractions. We parked across the street b/c we had a car top carrier and it was actually cheaper then what Embassy Suites was going to charge us to park. Would definately recommend!

Just returned from a 2 night stay. My wife was at a conference at the convention center a few minutes away and I had the kids. To begin with, the hotel lobby is very nice, modern and good decor. Front desk staff were overall kind. The rooms were in very good condition, spacious and all with fridge, bar sink, microwave and a separate sitting area with flat screen TV.

The unique part of this hotel is that every evening at 530...there is a managers reception where they have open bar: wine, beer, soft drinks all at no charge with chips/salsa etc... in a separate area of the lobby.

The free breakfast was very impressive. A large spread and lots of variety. Very crowded though after 8am so be prepared to wait.

Parking at the hotel is $33. I would recommend parking in this huge open parking lot directly across the street on your own for only $20. The location of the hotel is good for china town and convention center but a bit of a walk to all the simthsonian stuff, white house etc...It is about 7 or so blocks away but there are a lot of variety of hotels near this embassy suites including hyatt, renassance, mariott etc...

I would defintely stay here again. The pool and jacuzzi was a plus for the kids.

My family stayed in 3 suites over the long 4th of July weekend, and loved the hotel. The complimentary breakfast and manager's reception were extra added values! Because of the holiday weekend, some of the lines were long, but they opened a second breakfast room on the 4th and 5th which helped handle the numerous family groups. We had room service meals several times and overall, the service and food was above the norm.

We were in Washington DC for 4 days this past week (July 29-Aug. 2) and we stayed at the Embasy Suites-Convention Center. This is a great hotel for families. The suite setup is just ideal. You get a spacious living area that includes a kitchenette and a dining area and a seperate bedroom(s). It was a very nicely appointed room. Great, comfortable bed. The bathroom was a little small, but nice. There is a flat screen tv with 25 or so channels, a safe, a small refrigerator and a microwave in the room.

Views are hard to come by here, but you can get a partial view of the Capitol and the Washington Monument if you get a high enough floor and you're facing South. Try and get a room that ends in 01 or 02. These are the corner suites and do cost more, but we could see the capitol off in the distance and we could see about the top third of the washington monument. Beats looking at a parking garage.

The hotel itself is almost brand new. The lobby and common areas are very nice. The restaurant is very stylish, the business center has 3 computers and is hidden away (which is great because kids won't find it just by wandering the halls). They have internet kiosks set up in the lobby. The managers reception is nice if you want to relax and get a drink. They have some snacks, chips, pretzles, etc.

The staff is excellent. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The doormen will help you get a cab, answer questions about the metro, point you in the right direction, etc. Everytime we needed something, it was done.

The location is great. The hotel is located within walking distance to the mall (6-7 blocks, 15-20 minutes). It is also located close to 2 Metro locations, Metro Center and Chinatown. Metro Center is the closest, it's about 3 blocks away. Chinatown is 4 blocks away. It might be helpful to note here that DC is a walking town, you are going to have to walk at some point during your trip. It's a nice part of town. You will encounter homeless in DC, they are everywhere. I never felt unsafe anywhere in the city.

The restaurant is nice, but we weren't very impressed with the food. It was almost $100 for dinner with wine for 2 of us. Overall, I didn't think the restaurant was a great value. On the other hand, the free breakfast is great! Food anywhere in DC is expensive, so a free breakfast is a real value. The only time we had to wait in line was on saturday morning at 8am. The earlier you get there, the less likely you'll have to wait in line. They have a buffet that includes eggs, hash brown, pancakes or french toast, bacon and sausage. They also have a made to order omlette station (this is where the lines can get long). I really liked the buffet.

The pool is a little small. because there are so many families/kids, it can get crowded. They do have a hot tub as well. The workout room is nice, it has new Precor equipment. Most days we walked so much during the day, I didn't feel the need to workout at night.

Embassy Suites caters to families, so you will see alot of kids running around. In the lobby, at breakfast, on the internet, in the pool, in the workout room, etc. Just a word of warning.

The hotel was pretty expensive. We paid $275 per night for a corner suite. Hotels in DC are expensive during the week and cheaper on weekends. That being said, I do feel like we got a good value. It was worth the extra money to have a suite as opposed to a hotel room.
