We stayed here for 6 nights during the Cherry Blossom Festival and our kids (ages 11 and 15) spring break. We loved this hotel, and my quibbles are few and very minor.

The staff was great and friendly. Having a suite with 2 rooms and 2 tv's was great--and it was cleaned perfectly every day. I guess my biggest complaints about the room were the double beds (why oh why do hotels insist on using doubles instead of queens?) and the pillows. I solved that problem by going to Bed Bath and Beyond and buying an inexpensive feather pillow.

We requested a high floor away from the elevator in hopes of avoiding some of the noise others complained about, but that wasn't an issue at all. Most of the people staying there were families and business people---no rowdy teens or groups. And the construction right outside our window was a non-issue as well. Not a bit of noise from that.

The breakfast was fabulous. On the first morning we were there, we were a bit concerned---the lines were absolutely awful. But the bus boys stayed on top of keeping tables cleaned off, and the managers brought out trays of juice to those of us in line and apologized profusely for the wait. The rest of the week there were virtually no lines at all. After a long day of sightseeing, the Manager's Reception was a welcome way to wind down over some wine or cocktails before dinner.

The location was awesome. We used the Circulator, the Metro (about 2 blocks away), and walked a lot. Many good restaurants nearby (including Matchbox and Capital City Brewing Co., our personal favorites).

The hotel does have a laundry facility, but there were only 2 washers and 2 dryers that were almost always in use, especially at night---it didn't really seem to be enough for the number of rooms.

The concierge desk was manned with nice people very knowledgeable and helpful about the area. We used them several times, and they gave excellent advice.

Room service---did that the first night as we were exhausted. It wasn't bad, but not great either. It was delivered within 30-45 minutes.

In the lobby area, there were 6 computers available for guests to use to check email, internet, etc. This was so helpful for checking on restaurants or tours, and there were printers so you could print your info out.

I would definitely highly recommend this hotel, and would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to D.C.

My two teenage boys and myself stayed here over Easter weekend. The room was large and very nicely decorated. The morning buffet was GREAT! ( the hotel was full but the buffet moved along nicely.) The nightly managers reception was wonderful after a day of walking the mall. The boys enjoyed soft drinks and chips while I had a glass of wine. The pool is small but nice with a fantastic view of the city. After all that walking around the museums and such I enjoyed the hot tub. The location of the hotel was great for us, we felt safe walking to and from the circular bus stop and metro stops.( I had never used public transportation and was leerie, but I felt very safe on DC's Metro lines.) Overall Embassy Suites Conv. Center was wonderful for us. The only complaint I had was the Concierge (an older gentleman) was rude to me when I questioned him about where to buy Circular bus day trip tickets. Besides not knowing where or how to get the tickets he actually said to me "Why would you want too". I understand he wants to sell trolley tours and such, but his job is to help guest. However I filled out a guest card saying as much the day we left and the lady concierge apologized and made me feel better about the situation. Other than that one employee all other staff went above and beyond helpful.

I stayed with my two teenage children for a weekend. Location was great, rooms were great along with the food. I would stay here again on my next trip to DC. The pool is a little small but we didn't go to DC to swim. House cleaning was disappointing. They didn't empty the trash cans our entire stay or give us clean towels. I had to call for towels every evening. Other then that great place.

My boyfriend and I loved this hotel! Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted promptly by a friendly, smiling front desk attendant. He went out of his way to answer any and all questions we had and offered helpful information to us regarding the hotel and the city. We took the elevator up to the seventh floor and were extremely pleased when we opened the door to our room. A flat screen tv, couch, glass-top dining table were among the first things we noticed. Past that was the bathroom, which was clean and spacious, modern and pretty. The bedroom was a separate space with another flatscreen, lovely decor and a comfortable feel to it. The linens were among the highest in quality and the bed was plush and comfortable, not to mention a king! We took a quick nap and then headed downstairs to happy hour. We were amazed when we ordered drinks and the bartenders told us they, and all drinks from 5-7 were FREE! Everything, including wine and liquor, snacks, all complimentary. Of course we stayed for three! We asked one of the hotel staff members about comedy clubs in the area and he went as far as to go look them up on the internet and personally make the calls for us! Before leaving, we stopped at the hotel desk and one of the front desk attendents recommended some restaurants for us and we were thoroughly impressed with the Spanish Tapas restaurant we chose. And finally, the perfect ending to our stay was the hotel's complementary breakfast. Tons of choices, anything you can dream up, it's probably offered. Convenient, friendly, and an ideal location, The Embassy Suites Washington-Conventiion Center is worth every penny! We decided that we will be making that our homebase everytime we visit Washington DC as it was our best hotel experience to date!

I just checked out this morning after spending 4 nights here.
I cannot imagine any other place being as conveniently located as this.
Our party of 3 was given room 601 which faces New York Avenue - due to the shape of the building, we were on a corner and our room was not the typical "square", and had lots of space. Comfortable beds, more comfortable pillows.
More breakfast than anyone can eat and the complimentary cocktails in the afternoon were strong.
There were several restaurants and fast foods within walking distance, Chinatown being only 2 blocks away. Across NY Ave was a large city parking lot, and facing us from the other side was the Grand Hyatt. We quickly learned that if you go to the Grand Hyatt's back lobby, you can keep going down the escalators and you are in Metro Center and can catch the metro anywhere.
One detriment - Finn & Porter's Restaurant in the lobby - ate there one night and ordered room service another...food mediocre at best.

The breakfast is very good and if you don't mind crowds, the drinks before dinner were also a plus. But we had so many problems, we'd never go back. We heard there were lots of families and kids and, of course, they are often noisy. But we didn't think there would be drunk teenagers/college students wrestling in the elevators or screaming and running up and down the halls all night long. The room was like the other ES hotels...a little small but nice to have the two rooms. However, the air conditioner in our room rattled and made the strangest noises at all hours of the day. The telephone couldn't receive outside calls; when we ordered wakeup calls on two days, the calls began 90 minutes before our scheduled time (imagine getting woken up every TEN minutes, beginning at 6:15 AM). The desk people kept telling us it was getting fixed but we had to disconnect the phones and use our cells. The alarm clock, by the way, was also broken; the time was accurate but it read AM when it was PM and the alarm function couldn't be programmed (wasted lots of time trying). The TV in the bedroom looked about ten years old; there was a small flat screen in the front room but the aspect ratio on the picture was stretched out which made the TV unwatchable. Room service food was poor;. The service people were friendly but we had a Ceasar salad which was simply lettuce and some cheese and a watery dressing. The burgers were flat and a step below McDonalds; the fries were just tasteless. Finally, we travelled with another couple and checked out together. Both of us had signed on for the internet service so we could do emails (many hotels offer wireless connections for free but not this one) but when our friends got their bill, they realized that instead of $9.95 a day, they had been double and tripled charged (one day, they were charged $9.95 three times!). They were also charged for a movie they didn't watch ($13.95). The front desk guy said that they had probably clicked on one of the sign-on buttons too many times (sounds like really primitive software which doesn't catch mistakes like this) and implied that it was actually THEIR fault. When we got our bill, we were stunned to see that we also had been double and triple charged. The front desk guy acted like we had some kind of conspiracy going on or were just plain stupid rednecks (actually, we're all from NYC). He removed the charges but was quite displeased; he didn't make eye contact, didn't apologize and when he printed out the corrected bill, he handed us the paper, mumbled a thank you and then walked away to chat with another desk person and totally ignored us.

I stayed at this hotel overnight with a couple of guys for a bachelor party. The location of the hotel was key--right near restaurants, bars, the Verizon Center, etc.. We had drinks at the manager's happy hour before going to the game and were happy that this was included. There were no problems with the rooms and the breakfast the next morning, even though the bachelor had a tough time enjoying it, was excellent. All-in-all a very nice hotel.
