We stumbled across the Law Enforcement Memorial while walking around DC. As a police detective in the UK I found the experience both impressive and emotional.
To see so many names engraved for posterity of men and women killed in the line of duty simply doing their jobs protecting the public and upholding the rule of law is jaw dropping.
To think that behind every name there is a family, a story and a life cut short is a hard reminder that our forces of law and order put their lives on the line every time they go to work.
One of my colleagues was murdered in the line of duty so, for me, it was particularly poignant.
This memorial shoud be a must see for everybody who visits DC.
