“Under construction”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

This beautiful old post office is becoming a mixed use building, but will still have a small postoffice within it. Don't visit until construction is over.

“why is this post office so awful?”
Reviewed December 17, 2010

Walked in in December of last year during the day to find a 30 person line. One poor soul just wanted to buy stamps & was informed he would have to stand in line--they had removed the stamp machine. Behind the counter staff are either surly or chatty and all are slow as molassas in January. The Post office seems to require them to ask about 15 individual questions for every single transaction which doesn't help, but other P.O. are able to whip through. Here every question is conversational, no moving forward without an individual response. Had to listen at length to one woman behind the counter share with the customer how she didn't make any effort to come to work when it snowed. Why should she? Have taken to going up to the Calvert St Station--small as a postage stamp, the two women that usually are behind the counter are remarkably efficient and the line moves quickly. Unlike Georgetown, they don't look at a long line & decide it's time for a break.
