“One of the prettiest formal gardens in the Washington area”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

The church has catacombs. Life size plaster statues make it seem like a religious wax museum. It is a fun place for kids to visit. The formal gardens are one of the prettiest spots in the Washington area. Off street parking is free and plentiful. The last time I visited they had the air conditioning going full blast. The gift shop was not that interesting.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

The gardens were beautiful, with a path leading down to them, and there were also gardens in the front. Inside there were many recreations of stories from the Bible. You could go in the catacombs which had some bones, yet were very furnished so you didn't get the real feel of catacombs.

“Hidden Jewel”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

We'll worth the trip to get here! Take the red line to Brookland exit, either walk or take the metro H6 bus to the Monastery. Amazing tour and gardens are magnificent! This was one of the best places we visited.

“Interesting collection of replicas”
Reviewed June 12, 2014 via mobile

Impressive grounds...spectacular gardens! The architectural replicas are certainly interesting enough but somehow it seemed a little "theme parkish" and as a designer and lover of architecture I was a little off put by the kitsch of so many replicas and nothing original. I guess if you want to see Holy Land replicas and copies of other holy sites it has merit. But the grounds are really gorgeous and worth seeing.

“A little-known gem”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

The monastery is a wonderful experience! The artwork is beautifully detailed stories from the Bible and recreations of historical sites in Italy and the Middle East. The gardens are enjoyable to walk through. Take time to look at every detail of the corridors, plants, and artwork.
