I have never stayed in an AKA hotel nor anything like one. THe rooms are really small apartments more then rooms. I would think they would be ideal for a family of 4 that wanted more space. I was traveling for business but still apreciated the extra space and the living and kitchen areas.
For visiting DC it would still seem ideal as it seems centrally located and within walking distance of many attractions.
