My wife and teenage son just spent a week at the AKA White House, and it was everything the best reviewers said it was, and MORE! We put a lot of weight in TripAdvisor reviews, and were not disappointed... We arrived early from a West Coast red-eye, and checked in to see if maybe a room ( 2 bed/2 bath) was available... None were, but
the gracious front desk manager allowed us to stay in a one bedroom being renovated until ours was cleaned... My family slept until noon, while I went for breakfast, visited the White House (2 blks. away!) and played tourist... Our week was perfect, and while the monuments & memorials were crowded, our home-away-from-home was SO much better than a hotel room, complete with our stocked kitchen(Whole Foods) and about the sweetest bartender in DC pouring our nightly gin & tonics! Disappointed the grading scale only goes to 5, as the AKA merits 10's across the board! Downside: it's in a major city, on a busy street, so be patient with some noise, with morning delivery trucks, trash collecting, etc... Thanks, everyone - great Spring Break!
