There are always interesting things to try here. The price is high for cafeteria food, but it never disappoints.

Right next to the capital building and botanical gardens so it gets really busy. Cafeteria style and a huge selection regional food choices. A little pricey but you are in DC and a tourist so yeah. the food was fresh really good well prepared

Having read good reviews of the American Indian Cafe my husband and I skipped the temptation of McDonalds at the National Air and Space museum (it always seems so appealing when we're starving but makes us feel crap later) We looked at the vast range of food on offer and both finally settled on the buffalo burger. Unfortunately it was really disappointing and the meat didn't seem of great quality with little taste and an odd texture - we both abandoned our meal. We had higher expectations for a cafe such as this but really the McDonalds would have been more enjoyable and that says a lot! I would recommend trying something else if you're dining here or avoiding it altogether

High end cafeteria in the Museum features stations featuring Native American foods from four regions. Beautifully presented, though not a huge GF selection, it was well marked and serving chefs were aware. A little pricey but I enjoyed a delicious quinoa and butternut squash side dish.

My husband and I had lunch at the cafe in the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. It was an enriching, unique experience. The restaurant is arranged like a cafeteria, allowing diners to choose from regionally inspired foods. I chose foods from Meso America. It was flavorful and good, but a little expensive. My husband chose a buffalo burger and buffalo chili cheese fries from the Plains region. The chili was a little bland, compared to Tex-Mex chili (which we are used to). The burger was good. The sitting area was a little like a school cafeteria, but overall we enjoyed the experience.
