“A little known gem in the theater district”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Dinner at the Fourth Estate is a very pleasant experience, whether one is theater-bound or just out for an evening of good food in nice surroundings. The food, although simple fare, is quite good, the service is agreeable and attentive, and the surroundings are warm and inviting. This is not an elaborate restaurant, but it is a quiet, relaxing sanctuary in a bustling area.

We had a wonderful dinner there last Saturday. The crab cake was superb and the service was excellent. Would definitely go back again.

“Lobster Night on top of the National Press Club in DC”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

This is the fine dinning restaurant of the National Press Club. The NPC has other outlet for food. I am a member of the NPC, but do not really show up that often. As a member, one get 15% discount on the food and beverage item. I went on their monthly 'Lobster Night', which is the last Wednesday of every month. Non member can go as well.

The restaurant's decor is a bit old school hotel style, but the service is friendly. The menu is not overwhelmed with choices. It is new American cuisine. I set my heart on lobster, and had a choice of salad and roast garlic potatoes. For members it is only $25 which is a steal! Took a recommendation on wine by the waiter, everything is good. Dessert is good too, had a chocolate and raspberry mousse. I will definitely come again. It is a quiet venue, and you could have big party if you like, they could arrange big table, I saw a table of 10 there.

Oh! They also validate parking in one of the garage nearby, call to check for the exact address of the garage, I did not use the parking this time, as I did not know before hand, and find a parking spot nearby. You can get the receptionist at the reception to validate the parking for you.

“Great food, service and quiet”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

Other nearby restaurants may be full, so I can't understand why more people don't go to this very nice place at the top floor of the National Press Bldg. I've eaten there many times but not in ten years until this Tuesday. Great food, quick service and quiet atmosphere. The chef who's been there two years actually came over to welcome us and thank us for coming. You do not need to be a member to go. Excellent lunch and dinners. (there is no city view, in case you're wondering)

“Quiet & dignified semi-formal restaurant downtown at National Press Club”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

White tablecloths, attentive and efficient waiters, a well-healed crowd, and a hushed, unhurried atmosphere, this restaurant is good for an extended business lunch, or anyone seeking a respite from the business or tourist hubbub of downtown Washington. At lunchtime, plenty of soup plus or sandwich plus combo items, as well as featured entrees. After dining one can stroll through the hallways to look at all sorts of memorabilia of news greats and political figures hanging on the walls, very Washington, since this restaurant is tucked away in the National Press club, up on the 13th floor at 419 14th Street. It's really convenient to attractions like the White House Visitors Center, Willard Hotel, and Warner Theater. There's a second, more casual and noisy dining room and bar on the floor just above with less expensive fare and TV monitors. Best to reserve in advance to check on membership conditions.
