Sadly CityZen didn't live up to our expectations when we visited this time for an anniversary dinner. The service was excellent, but the food didn't measure up to what we'd expect from a famous chef's tasting menu. We had the six-course tasting menu for $120 each and the dishes were surprisingly uninspiring, as if churned out from an assembly line. The poached lobster was not as good and the Wagyu beef sirloin was too salty for our taste. We did our best to enjoy the occasion, but wanted to be critical in this feedback because the chef really needs to innovate if the restaurant wants to retain its coveted top 10 spot among Washington DC restaurants.
