I love this place for authentic Belgian fare. The food is excellent, beer select is outstanding and desserts are not to be missed.

“Random Visit”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

I always knew this place was there! Never got a chance to eat there until one Friday night my wife said "Belga Cafe"! Yes, we ended up eating there and what an experience that was! Great food with very friendly service. Very busy don’t go without reservation like we did. Regardless, we were treated like we had one, and got seated with reasonable time. Pending Sunday brunch visit.

“So much good food, you'll have to go back a second time”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

This was--hands down--the best meal that I've had in a restaurant. I've been getting rather tired the standard restaurant fare, your chicken, steak, or cod with polenta/garlic mashed and a side of greens, so I was stunned to find such wonderful food that far exceeded my expectations. On the recommendation of the waitress, I started with the Belgian endive salad (echte witloof salade) and selected the slow-cooked rabbit roulade for a main course (vlaamse reus werner vandaele). Both were seasoned perfectly, enough to taste the flavours, but not overpower the key ingredients. For dessert, I had the Triple Crown, a set of three small pots of mousse: Ivory white Chocolate Mousse with Vincotto; Dark “Venezuela” Chocolate Mousse with porcini and candied carrots; and Milk Chocolate Mousse with orange and spiced cookie. It's hard to say which was my favorite because I loved them all and the presentation was stunning, turning the heads of the neighboring tables. The restaurant has an excellent list of Belgian beers, too, which is essential for dining with Belgian food.

“Absolutely love it”
Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

Went here for dinner with friends and was very impressed. The service was second to none, the mussels were very good and the beer and wine were a perfect accompaniment to a wonderful meal. The place was at capacity by 8pm on a rainy DC evening so can only imagine how busy it gets in the warmer months. Would definitely come back.

“Mussels - Mussels - Mussels”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

've been coming to Belga for many years. It's been around since the earliest days of Barracks Row's emergence as a restaurant-friendly neighborhood.
First, the scene: the space isn't huge; lots of tables are packed into the first floor of a townhouse, so while it doesn't have a ton of width, it makes up for it on depth. Seats by the window are our favorite (outside is even better, weather permitting), but nowhere inside can you escape the noise. It's loud. When it is really crowded we just sit and have dnner at the bar. I always get the mussels and frits. Yummy!
