With so many attractions on our "to see" list this trip, this memorial was sort of just an "extra in passing." However, now that we have seen it, we would HIGHLY recommend it! It is absolutely beautiful and we especially loved the many excellent quotes carved all around in the walls.

When we were there March 10th, the fountains and all water were off. So not sure if this is a seasonal occurrence in DC because of cold temperatures, or if water lines were being worked on. But it's something for future visitors to consider. Even nearby drinking fountains were off, so bring your own water!

“Visit here and find your state's name. Close to the other monuments.”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

We enjoyed chats with others who were touring. Did not evoke the emotions of the Korean or Viet Nam memorials.

“The last but not the least”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

It was the last memorial to be build in Washington DC. It is very moving to see how many names still have a cross beside their names meaning their body was never recovered and that no grave and no funerals were evere performed for that person thanks to whom Europe was liberated.

“Impressive”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

I was here in January on this occasion, it is best viewed later in the year when the fountains are working and the Reflecting Pool is full of water. Nonetheless, this is a good stop to look at during any walk from the Lincoln Memorial, along the National Mall to the Capitol Building. It's about two miles in total and even in really cold January weather it is well worth the effort.

Conveys the scope of the international conflict that took so many lives and inspires the fundamental patriotic essence of the American belief system.
