Portions were very generous. Oysters in chardonnay sauce- OMG! I could have used a straw to get every last drop. Everyone was very satisfied.

There was attention to details from our Cosmopolitans to our Crab Bisque Soup. The service was simply excellent from our bartender and server, Joel. The owner, Nick, was simply a delight and made us feel right at home. This is an intimate restaurant that you would want to visit in DC. It is located across from Union Station. It has a wonderful atmosphere. People come and go so there is not a dull moment.

The Monocle is close to capitol hill and a regular stop for politicians. The staff is excellent and the food was quite good. The manager really went out of his way to make our family feel welcome and enjoy our experience.

We were in DC for our wedding anniversary, staying in the Capital hill area. I had read several restaurant reviews and settled on this one. We had filets, shrimp appetizer and bisque soup. All was wonderful!! The prices are not out of line with other DC steak/seafood restaurants. I liked being here when Congress was not in session - still very busy and business oriented. John A. was our waiter - he made our night terrific!! He paced the time between courses expertly and we did not feel rushed with all the activity going on in the restaurant. It could not have been more special! Would defintiely go back.

The food was average. The service was good. It was not worth the price. Would not recommend for other than the history involved.
