Best Dumplings I have ever had...great rice bowls. The entire family loved this place and the food could not have been better. We went late afternoon. I would guess this place is packed during dinner. Great service, very attentive staff. Would definitely put this one on my do over list.

My husband I were visiting our daughter in DC for a week and tried a variety of restaurants. Bangkok Joe's was one of our favorites. Not only did they have a wonderful Happy Hour in a welcoming and peaceful setting, they offerred great food. We sat at the bar and tried the dumplings (mushroom & Ginger) were excellent, the buns (Port and Crab) were good and we loved the Crispy Salmon Roll. Watching the preparation was fun and the presentation was wonderful. The restaurant decor was contemporary, but with a tie to the past. Buddha hair representations were throughout in various mediums including metal and a hanging wall piece. We will definately visit this restaurant everytime we are in DC.

Bangkok Joe's takes the best of thai spices and flavour and fuses them with other asian and american cuisines. The panang curry we shared had the authentic flavours of a thai curry but was tossed over white noodles with tofu - a perfect blend. The basil tofu was perfectly spiced, (and hot as indicated on the menu!) and more reminiscent of a chinese dish. Finally, the appetizer of winter squash gyoza took American vegetables and fused them into a Japanese favourite.

Sometimes fusion is a watered-down version of the local food - this was fusion as it should be - taking the best of both worlds and creating new and inspiring dishes.

The service was a bit slow, but the prices were right considering the location. We'll certainly return.

This is a fun place to eat. It's 1-2 blocks from M St & 31st. The atmosphere makes it appropriate for families or for friends getting together or a casual business dinner. Our kids (ages 10-16) loved the food, as did we. Lots of interesting flavors and options. It's not a cheap place for family dining ($200 for family of 5 including tip and two alcoholic drinks), but worth it for a special night out. Our waiter was from Thailand and provided good service.

The food is really delicious, fresh and flavorful! While we didn't really push much on the spicy front, because we were with our kids who don't love the hot flavors, the food we had was really delicious! Our server was Thai, and incredibly lovely. She was warm and friendly, and so sweet to the girls and us. She counseled us well about how much food to order so that we wouldn't waste a bunch of food, which is so easy when ordering.

The Bangkok Joes was a highlight of our trip to Georgetown.
