“GOOD FISH BUT EXPENSIVE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

The place is good, fresh fish, well prepared, but OMG, it is so expensive!!!! We spend $45 per person for lunch! There does not seem to be any difference between prices for lunch and dinner....I guess It is fit for the lobbyists with deep pockets. the place is crawling with them.

“perfect place for eating outside in Capital Hill area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

The fried oyster po'boy sandwich was very good and fun to share. Service was good. While we enjoyed eating at the outside terrace, the inside bar and restaurant is very pretty as well. Convenient to Union Station and Capital Hill

“Good Dinner & Good Company”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

A business acquaintance and I had dinner here after a reception in the Mansfield Room in the Capitol. The server did a good job, the menu was very good and well prepared as were the martini, wine and the cognac! Three hours later we returned to our hotels after a great evening.

“Almost tapas at a tiny table”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

Johnny's Half Shell was very crowded but three of us took a tiny table in the bar and had wonderful seafood with our drinks. We shared from the bar menu (good prices) and then, for "dinner" ordered more appetizers. Fun evening, great location with view of capitol.

“Wow!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

After several disappointing dining experiences in Washington DC our concierge directed us to Johnny's Half Shell for dinner. It was great! It was more than a good meal; it was a fabulous dining experience! Our server John was great. He steered us to a the halibut which was amazing. He suggested the perfect wine pairing not based on price but rather on taste. The wine was very reasonably priced. The halibut was prepared perfectly. John was attentive to our needs and engaged us in discussions about wine. He is very knowledgeable about the restaurant's dishes and wine cellar. The restaurant provided live music. As it was my wife's birthday, they bought us dessert wit a candle. They also gave her a very nice birthday card. Whenever we are in DC we will always come back to Johnny's.
