We made the reservation in the early evening via Open Table with no issues. We arrived early and seated with no issues. The restaurant is only a couple blocks from the Capitol building.
It was connected to the Hotel George, just steps from Union Station so easily accessible by either taxi, car or Metro. The decor was nice but not overly frou-frou. The bar area was inviting and busy even for 5:30pm.
The service was great...attentive, but not overly intrusive. They acknowledged we were deep in conversation and did not interrupt, but rather casually available when we were ready to order. We were not rushed through the meal, but able to enjoy it at a slow pace. I expect if you are needing to dine in short-order, then a mention to the staff would mean they would pick up the pace.
But the most enjoyable of the visit was the food, which for me is more important than the service or decor or ambience. I had the bisque, which was superb; friends had the onion soup which was heavy laden with savory cheese (as it should be!). For main course I had the leg of lamb, braised to the point that the meat was so tender and just falling of the bone, yet juicy; atop a garbanzo bean puree. We also ordered the glazed sweet potato, which was slightly sweet and smoky.
Dessert was something light, I chose something with a mousse and fruit layer to it. Wine selection was good. An enjoyable evening.
