“A fun stop”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

A nice little lifesize bronze with a nice garden and some comfortable steps to enjoy a bit of lunch. George Mason was an important founding father and there is some reflecting to do at this site, but overall it is good for a quick breather on a tour of DC.

“Important Historical Figure, Minimal Memorial”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

George Mason was an important founding father, as important as all of the other founding fathers, but he got a little short changed with his memorial. They say he would have wanted it that way, but I doubt it if he had seen all of the other memorials to his peers!

This memorial was lacking the dedicated care that you would see at the Jefferson or Lincoln memorials, but yet again, you could stand there 20 minutes and no one else would visit.

This memorial is on the way from the Jefferson and FDR memorial areas.

“Nice stop on the Tidal Basin”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Lovely garden memorial for one of our "forgotten" founding fathers. Didn't know much about George Mason but our tour guide did and after stopping and hearing the story, i'm glad we were able to see it. (This memorial was part of the itinerary for the all in one tour we took from DC by Foot -see sep review on that)

“Sad but not worth stopping for.”

The water was green and mossy, weeds in the garden. Not taken care of.

“Very nice”
Reviewed April 16, 2012

Understated memorial of someone I had not heard of, but enjoyed reading about him. Naturally kids love climbing on him and the bench. The flowers are pretty here. When we visited in April there were pansies and birds were bathing in the pool. Vines were about to flower. Very peaceful place to rest for awhile on your walk around the tidal basin.
