Wow! What a great experience. We had a table of 8 and got a round table in a corner with a lazy Susan to facilitate sharing. I know this is not very helpful, but everything we got truly was great. We started with all of the dips and they kept us well-supplied with warm flatbread to go with it. A favorite among these was the htipiti, a mix of roasted red peppers, feta and thyme. My favorite item was the Fried Halloumi - so good, after sharing the first serving, I ordered another fo myself. Drinks were exceptional, Sidecar to Tangier a particular favorite. Prices were reasonable - they were small plates, so you can control what you spend fairly well. However, if possible, order a lot and share with friends. So amazing!!!

Overall, I was very pleased with my lunch at Zaytinya. With so many José Andrés locations in DC, I wanted to ensure I got to at least one of them and was able to fit in a visit here before heading to the airport. It's in a very central location and the room is spacious and nice. They have a great $25 individual mezze lunch special which I think is a very good value. You choose one selection from four mezze courses. Unfortunately, I found they did pair up many that I'd want under the same course, but I was still able to get a variety I was happy with. Hummus, followed by falafel, then keftedes kapama (meatballs), and rounded off with Turkish Delight for dessert. While I wouldn't classify any of the dishes as particularly revolutionary, they were reliably well cooked, flavorful, and well presented. I enjoyed each dish, they were a respectable portion, and I was satisfied by the end of my lunch. Looking over the full menu, they seem to have a great selection of hot and cold mezzes and it all seems to be quite reasonably priced. To round things off, I gave their Turkish Storm cocktail a try and it was light and refreshing.

I sat at the bar and had attentive service even while they were training someone else and, although the restaurant was quite busy for lunch around 1PM on a weekday, they were still very quick with service and bringing my courses and I was able to get on to the airport on time without any troubles.

Overall, definitely a satisfying and reliable choice.

They seem to know how to take food that wouldn't normally be very good, and making it taste awesome. Try the cauliflower!
