“Excellent food, great service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

I visited Zaytinya for the first time with friends during DC's bustling restaurant week. The service was excellent. Perhaps it was because of where we were seated, in the path of many of the wait staff, but the dishes came out very promptly and were delish! We decided to order off the regular menu rather than the restaurant week menu, because everyone at our table wanted to try something different, and after sampling a variety of the dishes (they are small portions, so we each ordered 3-4), I don't think anyone in our group left disappointed!

“One of the best in DC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

This is hands down one of the best spots in DC. The atmosphere is amazing. Love the menu, the wine....service is great. That fresh pita is ridiculously warm...soft...fresh. My only gripe...minor...is the silly Olive garden like pagers to alert u your table is ready. Kind of cheesy for such a nice spot.

“Zaytinya: Worth all the buzz”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

Everyone I know told me not to miss Zaytinya on a recent trip to DC. We couldn't get in for Saturday night, but made it on Sunday. I am so glad we did. The place has a great feel, wonderful service and the food...where to start? I wasn't sure I'd like the small plate dining experience but it was fabulous. Three of us ordered three dishes, all to be shared. We also got and shared three desserts. Each dish was better than the last. Spanish, Turkish and Greek flavors are all represented beautifully and, unlike the countries, in complete harmony. I can't recommend this highly enough, and we will certainly be back. We took our college age son with us and I'm not sure who loved it more. Can't wait to go back.

“Mediterranean at Its Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

A terrific meal in beautiful surroundings with fine service! The two-story window facade brings the light through the windows (night and day) to your table to bask your meal in an aura of elegance. The color scheme adds to this sense of being safely tucked inside away from the city. But there is a dynamic quality to Zaytina that gives the meal added zest. The Mediterranean comes alive with dishes from numerous countries and cultures in a menu loaded with choices. The "small plate" (think Spanish tapas) orientation allows you to pick and choose in order to sample a wide range of dishes. Carefully prepared with a finely tuned sensitivity to taste, the saunces are delightful. Not sure what to order? The wait staff is fully prepared to offer suggestions about plates that complement each other throughout your meal. A delightful surprise is the delivery of the dishes stretched out over a period of time rather than served all at once. An excellent wait staff with an ability to provide information about the menu without intruding. The wine list will take some adjustment to taste with its emphasis on Greek vineyards so asking for help in choosing something that is close to your preferred palate is recommended. Good desserts and coffee close off the evening. Not inexpensive, but worth it for an evening that is decidedly different.
