A terrific meal in beautiful surroundings with fine service! The two-story window facade brings the light through the windows (night and day) to your table to bask your meal in an aura of elegance. The color scheme adds to this sense of being safely tucked inside away from the city. But there is a dynamic quality to Zaytina that gives the meal added zest. The Mediterranean comes alive with dishes from numerous countries and cultures in a menu loaded with choices. The "small plate" (think Spanish tapas) orientation allows you to pick and choose in order to sample a wide range of dishes. Carefully prepared with a finely tuned sensitivity to taste, the saunces are delightful. Not sure what to order? The wait staff is fully prepared to offer suggestions about plates that complement each other throughout your meal. A delightful surprise is the delivery of the dishes stretched out over a period of time rather than served all at once. An excellent wait staff with an ability to provide information about the menu without intruding. The wine list will take some adjustment to taste with its emphasis on Greek vineyards so asking for help in choosing something that is close to your preferred palate is recommended. Good desserts and coffee close off the evening. Not inexpensive, but worth it for an evening that is decidedly different.

We were in DC a week for business and the first night we wanted to eat outside and eat something fun. We found this Mediterranean fusion restaurant on Open Table and had a fantastic meal. So good we came back again a few days later and had the same amazing server. I would drive to DC just for their Brussels sprouts!

We came in for lunch while touring the city on a visit from North Carolina. We were adventurous in our ordering and let Moses select some "must try" items. Before our order was even up, we had great cocktails and some of the best Pita bread ever. Very light (which is perfect while walking all over DC) and very warm.
Our items came out and they were all wonderful. You have to try the shrimp here... unique and very good. We split a Turkish Delight for dessert and again were impressed.
This place was at least 4 stars for the food, but the service sealed the 5 stars for me!
Great Lunch!!!

With the chaos of so many diners (and the noise that goes with them), we were lucky to be seated in a corner booth that was quieter than most areas of the restaurant - and we were able to thoroughly enjoy the "Chef's Menu". Our dinner (shared plates) consisted of three appetizers, two vegetable plates, two seafood dishes, lamb chops, and two additional side dishes, folowed by dessert. Every dish was wonderful and attractively presented. My favorites if you are ordering ala carte are the brussel sprouts (incredible!), the roasted red pepper appetizer, and the lamb chops (cooked perfectly). I had the house-made lemon soda, which was light and refreshing and not too sweet.

A few food choices recommended:
Brussels Afelia (brussel sprouts, coriander seed, barberries, garlic yogurt )
Baba ganoush (fire roasted eggplant, tahini, lemon, garlic),
Octopus Santorini (grilled Mediterranean octopus, marinated onions, capers, yellow split pea puree)
Grape Leaves (grape leaves with rice, tomato, fennel, pine nuts, golden raisins, served with labneh) - I don't even like grape leaves. These were awesome.
We also had a lamb dish. Some kind of pastry with ground lamb inside. Can't remember the name of it.
Dessert: Turkish Coffee chocolate - OMG!
Ambiance: Loud is an understatement. I would say it's a good place for parties, but not good for dates of business meetings --unless you have a plan to have the other party agree to do something without understanding what you said ;)
Prices - fair
Service - On auto pilot. But effective and streamlined.
Although we were seated within 20 minutes, I would recommend making reservations in advance. This place was packed!
