Lots of healthy options available very quickly. Order at the bar, etc. Several different options for food, focusing mainly on asian influenced foods. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Good tea as well.

“Cute little place, great tea, varied food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

Visited this place with a friend who recommended it because of the vegan options available. Its a short walk from the museums. I ordered the veggie bento box, curried lentil soup and ginger zing tisane. Honestly I would only definitely go back for the curried lentil soup. It was hearty, filling and very tasty in flavor-good portion size. The ginger zing was also soothing and they served it to you in a huge mug. The veggie bento box was not that impressive. Everything on it, including the rice and squash seemed cold. It was a sad looking box in my opinion. Atmosphere is casual with a downstairs area for extra seating. When you walk in to the actual restaurant it looks crowded and a bit small. There is no waitstaff. You order and pick up your tray when called out and seat yourself.

“Price gouge”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Mediocre food. They used leave notices at the tables warning patrons of pick-pockets. At my most recent visit, the shop charged me $6.50 for a Theo's chocolate bar that I normally buy at Whole Foods for $2.99. I sent a complaint through the shop's website and had no response. I also noticed that the Organic Silver Needle that I've been buying for several years is no longer being marked "organic" on the package, which makes me wonder whether they'd been fraudulently marking and selling it as organic, when it wasn't all along. There's no point in sending an email to ask because they don't respond. I was a regular customer because it's conveniently located to me, but I'm done with Teaism and will be buying my tea at a competitor tea shop from now on.

“Nice little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

We had tea here twice during our stay in D.C. Just a few blocks from the Smithsonian museums. There are many varieties of tea and other drinks. I found the tea to be perfectly hot and very good. We also enjoyed the salted oat cookies. There is an extensive Asian flavored menu, which we did not try.

“Asian; different than most; good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Read the menu and order at the counter. There are a variety of asian dishes, including soup, seitan, bento boxes, noodles, and lots of side dishes, teas, cookies, etc. We've eaten here for years and return regularly. Not high-end gourmet food, but it's a step or two up from street food. The facility is on two levels, which means that you may have to carry your tray down a slightly awkward flight of stairs. But you will be rewarded with view of their pond with huge koi. Your kids will love it. While waiting for your food, you can watch the cooks at the stove make various dishes. An open kitchen suggests confidence. There are several other Teaisms in DC. All are pretty much the same. A great spot for museum goers weary of overpriced and often lousy museum food. Teaism is a bargain too.
