“Cozy Chinatown Eatery with Tiki Drinks”
Reviewed July 29, 2014 via mobile

Eat First is a nondescript storefront in the heart of Chinatown, but the magic happens on the inside. We walked 4 blocks from our room at The Grand Hyatt hotel and were pleasantly surprised with a wonderful lunch. Although not very fancy on the inside, the service was great, our food arrived quickly, and everything was delicious. Even our picky children loved it!

As an added bonus, Eat First's menu included a nice selection of about a dozen Tiki drinks, including a Mai-Tai, Navy Grog, and Painkiller. I tried a drink called The Tiki, which was a tasty mix of 5 rums and fruit juices served in a Tiki mug. Mahalo!

For a quick, tasty lunch in DC's Chinatown, I highly recommend Eat First. If you're a Tiki enthusiast, you're in for a special treat.

“OMG!!! Amazing and right off metro”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

We were looking for really good and affordable Chinese food and boy did we find it. There were 5 kids ranging in age from 10 to 14 and 2 adults in our party. We each had soup and then we ordered 6 full dishes (couldn't do the lunch menu because it was a Sunday). The food was abundant and so amazingly delicious. The kids absolutely devoured the shrimp fried rice (we had 2 orders of it) and the eggplant in garlic sauce was phenomenal. We also had the chicken moo shu - a first for everyone in the group - and it too was eaten with gusto. I really don't remember being so fully satisfied with a meal like this in a very long time.

“Authentic in Taste but slightly greasy”
Reviewed May 18, 2014

My adventure of finding a good Chinese restaurant goes on I guess. I read good review about this place on the internet and wanted to come to try it. Though so far I had not find one good Chinese restaurant in down town DC.

The food is authentic, but it is like very old fashion and slightly more greasy than the modern Chinese cuisine. The menu is a mix of Southern Chinese food i.e. Cantonese and Northern Chinese cuisine, a bit of everything. I ordered Singapore Hoi Fun, Spinach in Garlic Sauce, Sable Fish and Tofu Hot Pot and Beef Brisket Stew. The Beef Brisket is very tasty, but it needed to be cooked for at least another hour or so depends if you use slow cooker or pressure cooker, it was very chewy. The Sable Fish and Tofu Hotpot was the best, it really is very authentic, as a matter of fact every thing was authentic, but too much oil.

The deco of the place is very outdated, I don't know how long it has been in DC, it resemble some restaurant in a village in China, plastic flowers..... you get the picture.

Service is very good, waiter is attentive and police, food come fast and hot.

It is a ok to me but by no means represents Chinese food I had in Hong Kong, China, Asia or London or even Chicago. There are some better one in the suburb, but no good authentic one in downtown DC.

“Service was Bad, Food was Worst”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

We ordered three dishes, and two out of three dishes tasted exactly the same: Horrible! Portions were small and the quality was stale. The pork dish was all battered with sauce over it hiding the fact that there's hardly any meat in the dish. When we complained about it, the server was willing to change the dish to an alternative plate, but it wasn't any better. Would not eat here again.

“Good Chinese food”
Reviewed April 18, 2014 via mobile

We went here for dinner and food was actually good. Had hot & sour soup grouper in black bean sauce. Shrimp Lo mein was good. Shrimp squid and scallops in spicy salt was very good. Portions were large. Service was good and quick.
