If you don't mind going off the high traffic / tourist traps areas on M street or Wisconsin Ave- Booeymonger may be the place for you. Nestléd in a residential area only blocks away is a calm and tranquil oasis frequented by locals. The food is a bargain-- forGeorgetown--breakfast is my favorite meal.

Stopped by here with my son for a quick bite and it was fast and delicious. He had the Chicken Gyro and fries and said it was great. I had the Georgetown sandwich and it was fresh and tasty.

We were pointed in the direction of this restaurant by a shopkeeper as we were looking for good food but were not dressed for something fancy. We had delicious sandwiches that were made with a really good quality french bread. The price was really a bargain too. Don't try to understand what the name means, just go have a nice meal at a very fair price!

Booeymongers, aka Booey's, is kind of a Georgetown institution. The locals, especially Georgetown U college students, go there often--whether for a quick sandwich or salad, or a leisurely Sunday breakfast.

The sandwiches have fun names like "the Patty Hearst," and pretty much everything is good here (except don't get the fries--they're probably the cheap, frozen stuff). Salads are fresh, and the bagel sandwiches (I like the Miami bagel--lox and bagel) are great. There's also a good selection of juices, and Booey's cinnamon coffee is not to be missed.

The atmosphere of this location is also very cozy (Booey's has a bigger, more modern space near the Friendship Heights metro). And although it's off the main drag (it's a few blocks from Wisconsin Ave & M Street), it's still a good spot for people-watching (get the table near the bay window where you pick up your food).

Booey's is nothing fancy, but it's a good option for when you're in Georgetown and don't want to get taken by one of those tourist trap restaurants (which, unfortunately, is what most of the restaurants in that neighborhood are. When people ask me to recommend a "good restaurant" in Georgetown, there are only a few on my list, and usually suggest other neighborhoods).

Tip: If you visit Georgetown on a Sunday, have breakfast or brunch at Booey's, walk around some of the side streets and admire some of the beautiful homes, then take a walk to Georgetown Harbor.

We live in DC and have been coming here for a late breakfast to this very informal, serve-yourself cafe on weekends for about 15 years. The quality of the food (sandwiches and salads) is always very good, the lines move fast and while sometimes it's best to have your partner save a table while you order, the tables turn over quickly. The grilled chicken salad and potato wedges are a sure bet and the clientele varies widely, leaning often towards college kids and families with small children. I've also seen some Washington celebrities stop by for a sandwich. It's fun to sit outside in warm weather and watch the college students and trendy families wander by. If you have a dog and a kid in a stroller, there is room to sit outside at a table with both and enjoy the DC scene. And if you like, a pitcher of beer is $5 at certain times of the week. They have both take-out and eat in. Staff is friendly, but sometimes a bit inexperienced or perhaps not so adept at listening so be very clear about what you are ordering.
